Happy new year to you all. Preparing myself for a couple of up and coming medical appointments with Rheumy and an MRI scan for my gommy knee. I wanted to ask for advice before going there. I posted last year about mysterious and quite severe symptoms I was having. There were a number of helpful theories but I've still not managed to get at diagnosis from the medical profession. I'm worried they are not listening and may be missing something. I have instances of painful, rythmic back/girdle pain which travels up my neck to my skull. The pain reflects the rythmic beats of my heart. I have recently tried to concentrate on the location of the pain as the Dr's are stumped. I do feel an element of the pain in my chest. It is so severe that I have to stop whatever I am doing and just curl up until it goes away. It's like someone beating my back with a baseball bat. It lasts about a minute but feels like forever. I've had a heart monitor a while ago which did not show anything. Interestingly my brother experiences the same thing and he does not have PMR but he did have a heart attack and triple bypass at 50 due to restricted blood flow in the valves due to the build up of plaque. Does anyone experience anything like this? Any advice on what I should be saying to my Rheumy/GP's. The intensity is very frightening and incapacitating.

MYSTERIOUS SYMPTOMS
Oh Singr! You must insist on the full range of cardiac tests. I have had them for less good reasons than you have. Let us know what happens. Do mention your brother’s health!
Thanks, I've mentioned my brothers health to all of the medical staff I've seen. I just get the same, "I'ts not following the normal symptoms associated with heart and circulation issues" It's just a sea of shrugging shoulders and confused expressions. It wears you down.
Have they never head of outliers? Sometimes you can only shake your head in bemusement!!!
What is an outlier ??? 😂
noun
a person or thing situated away or detached from the main body or system.
"a western outlier in the Andaman archipelago"
a person or thing differing from all other members of a particular group or set.
"an outlier in Faulkner's body of work"
So someone who doesn't fit their concept of "normal" ...
Thanks for that.
