Morning all. I've sat for over an hour reading all the questions and replies which are so helpful to me having only been diagnosed for just over a month now. It makes sense that people who are going through this know more about it than the Dr so a very helpful site. I have stayed on. 19mg for a week now and I am staying on it for a month as most of you suggested. No good trying to quick to get off steroids. the headaches I was experiencing have now more or less subsided so one worry less to think about. I made a sponge cake yesterday but was so shaky when I had finished. It goes if I sit down for half an hour but I think you said this can happen. Just taking things steady and slowly. Lots of sweats still but am sleeping a little better. All in all and with the help of all your comments l I think I am coming to terms with this complaint. Thank you. Hope you all have a good day.

Good to hear things are improving.....hopefully they will continue to do so ....and you will soon be more knowledgeable about your illness and that gives you more confidence to deal with it.🌸

Thank you. You have gone through it and your posts are so informative. I enjoy reading them and have taken your advice not to rush things. Difficult at my age but I do intend to get better. Stay safe x

I am nosy, so how long have you had the headaches and were they one-sided?

Your not nosey. Headaches were really bad for about 1 month and then it started easing off slightly but now they are just now and again - not so severe and not for as long. Maybe the steroids.... Maybe due to I suffer from vertigo but very frightening at the time. Dr didn't seem to bother when I told her. Most of them were on the right side of my head but occasionally all over. Hope that has helped you. I got so much help from the forum. X

You are very sensible to take it slowly. The natural reaction can be to try and get off steroids as quickly as possible and that is often the doctors unfortunately. It is not abnormal to feel shaky, remember you have an illness which can be life changing. Have you been offered vitamin D with calcium and also a Dexascan? This is suggested for those on longer term steroids.

No I wasn't offered anything except the steroids and a Lanzropol tablet for stomach when taking steroids. When my Dr phones me back on the 23rd Dec I will ask a few questions thanks to the forum. I've learnt more on here than anywhere. People's experience of this illness and who know that you are suffering as they are is more helpful I find. I'm always grateful for all the suggestions and I will follow them through to see what suits me. I am determined to beat this and get back to a near normal life. I did forget - the Dr gave me 4 tablets to take one per week for my bones. She said steroids reduce bone. Did you know that. I didn’t. Mind you I didn't know much about steroids at all. Thanks for reply.

I hope you weren’t given Alendronic Acid without a Dexascan. Is that the pill you were given? I have coated pred, so do not need Lansoprazole which helps reduce the tablets!
