There was a very interesting survey done on Women having Chemo following Breast Cancer.
The Ladies had to complete a Form on ALL Side Effects of Chemo & then Report the same side effects to their Oncologists at their Appointment.
The Forms & Clinical Notes were then compared, almost without exception the Doctors only noted ‘Known Side Effects’
It was was done on a random selection of women/hospitals with 100 women, l don’t have the details to hand anymore, all long deleted but it always stayed in my mind!
So, my point is ~ in general who is best positioned to report side effects? ~ The person taking the Meds!.....
If people don't use the card scheme for every side effect they encounter, then some of them do not move up the scale. The paper that accompanies all your drugs just list the most common ones.
I am never surprised about anyone in the medical profession not knowing all the side effects - the only people who do are the Pharmacists they know more about drugs than anyone else., so make a friend of your pharmacist.
