I heard a bit of the press conference with the CMO at BioNTech yesterday and I'm sure she mentioned it had been tested in a/i patients but I wasn't listening properly at the time!

Yes, I would think that we require more info so that we can make an educated decision to have the shot, doctors in my local surgery would just stick it without checking records. It's a case of look after yourself I am afraid. Get better advice from the gateman.

I would like to see some more results. This vaccine has never been tested on infectious diseases. I think back to the polio vaccine of the 1950s, “investigations revealed that the vaccine, manufactured by the California-based family firm of Cutter Laboratories, had caused 40 000 cases of polio, leaving 200 children with varying degrees of paralysis and killing 10.” I am being sceptical!

Bit different - it was a live vaccine.

Also, it was a manufacturing error.

Like the vit D scandal in Europe that stopped fortification of most things here?

Sorry, not familiar with that.

Not sure how many, but babies and small children died after a mistake was made with supplementing foods with vit D. Which led to demands for the practice to be stopped - very few things have had added vit D in Europe since. Now there are calls for it to be reversed.

The Cutter case was an anomaly in which that batch of vaccine was incorrectly made. A horrible error, but not based on the actual, approved vaccine.
