Hi, because I am taking steroids should I be carrying a steroid alert card stating what dose I am on? Thanks
Steroid alert card: Hi, because I am taking... - PMRGCAuk
Steroid alert card
Yes you should - and some also have a medical bracelet - plenty online to choose from.
Or by joining PMRGCAuk
How do I join?
Hi Lico, here's the link to our membership page: pmrgca.co.uk/content/about-... and if you wish to join, just click on the Join Now! link. You will need to choose email as your preference for receiving the magazine (as the membership fee wouldn't cover the additional cost for mailing it).
I got mine when I joined the charity in the welcome pack. It is important as if you were in an accident or anything like that, doctors need to know.
I got a card from my pharmacist - carry it in phone
I am in Spain so not sure if I can get a card from pharmacist, will try later, thanks
I think you will find it is a very UK thing. Most important is a note kept somewhere obvious that would be seen in an emergency to warn healthcare professionals that you are on long term corticosteroids. And in your case, in English and Spanish. Possibly better would be a medic alert bracelet that has a phone number for a multi-lingual contact hub that had your medical details.
try this link - and print off - although its UK NHS it might help -pituitary.org.uk/media/6153...
when I ran out once, I just made my own from a postcard folded over.
Boots has them.
I still question whether a card will be found by attending medics/ambulance staff. I have seen some people have tattoos which give their medical stats (probably have to be added to as life goes by!!!)
As well as carrying a card I also wear a medical bracelet with the details on it
Belt and braces!
Indeed and never been into tattoos. I guess tattoo parlours will also shut at the moment. We'd be in and out at regular intervals trying to keep it up to date.!!!!
