Is Omeprazole prescribed for Tocilizumab or steroid only related ?

Hi is anyone taking TCZ on its own (so no steroid involved) also still prescribed omeprazole (or equivalent) ? Thanks.

No, but I never liked the drug. Are you having stomach trouble with Tocilizumab? I have had some stomach gripes and nausea. Gaviscon was helpful ( just over the counter indigestion remedy.)

Hi Mum is having constipation issues every few days and can be all day long and then lessens over few days.

HiYes I was for pred.

As far as I know it is for Prednisolone only as the tablets go through the stomach. The injections if you are on them aren’t . I continued on them to the end of the 12 months on Tocilizumab. I used Lazoprazole ( omeprazole didn’t agree with me) and weaned off them slowly after my last injection, however I do have a hiatus hernia. I am great without them now. I would check with rheumy but pretty sure you don’t need them but don’t just stop them, do it slowly.

Yes after several years on Tocilizimub I started having stomach troubles and was prescribed Omeprazole. It didn't help at all and, like Sheffield Jane, I am currently using OTC medication. Appointment Monday with Rhuematology on Monday (1st since March) so will be discussing meds then.
