Hi. I have developed a tingling in muscles around inside knees. Started with left but now on right too. It started a few weeks ago and initially thought it was a trapped nerve, but now that other leg is affected, I’m not so sure. I think I’ve had read something about this but have forgotten it’s name. I’m on 5 mg of Pred, and pmr started in Oct ‘17. Thanks for any suggestions.

I had a physio appointment yesterday and we were talking about sciatica symptoms - she confirmed something I'd suspected for a long time: sciatic irritation CAN appear in the knees or even the feet with no apparent effects higher up! It can be numbness or tingling. The nerve can be irritated or pinched by the piriformis muscle and it is often affected in PMR.
I had bad sciatica about 8 years ago. After suffering for months, a friend of mine who heard of my pain told me that sitting on a stability disc whenever I was sitting would cure it. I followed his advice, and two weeks after starting to use it the pain was gone. I have since recommended it to about a dozen people, and all but two found it worked for them.
The degeneration of spinal discs causes vertebrae to pinch the sciatic nerve. The way sitting on a stability disc helps is that it tones up the stabilizer muscles along the spine, causing the muscles to keep the vertebrae spaced apart when the spinal discs are less than optimal.
