Cold legs
During the 5 years I had PMR pre-pred I used to get cold areas of skin - thighs and back at the top of my buttocks were the worst. I rather assumed it was due to reduced blood flow - no idea if it was that. Rarely get it now.
I didn't have cold legs when I reduced from 15mg, to 10mg to 7.5mg but I have slightly cold feet and a numb feeling on the soles of my feet. Also, if I have a hot water bottle I can't feel much of the heat through my feet but I can further up on my legs. Hope this makes sense. I don't know if it's a side effect from the prednisolone or the PMR, but I suspect it's the pred as I've never had it before.
Pred can lead to neuropathy developing - but are you also confident about your blood sugar status? If that gets high it can also damage nerves.
Thanks for replying. I had the results of my fasting blood tests last week - sugar, cholesterol, etc. All good. My BP is also normal, even low at times. It's nothing that stops me from enjoying life, just an irritation. I posted the question (about numb feet and soles feeling a bit like leather) on another PMR site and received a lot of responses from people having the same problem.
Thanks for mentioning! Have been off Pred since end of May but also noticed during, that my whole body was feeling cooler! Inside & out. Had always been warmblooded and never needed a sweater. That all changed as felt chilly and even a nice, not bath couldn't warm me quickly. Hot drinks are never hot enough either. Interesting observation.
I always have cold kegs in winter. Have circulation problem, various veins. Always wear legging under trousers. Don't really cause me much of a problem except I feel cold
