Prednisone fat face

I am hopeful that after my Pred is reduced gradually of course my face will stop looking like I am “stuffing nuts for winter”.

I think losing the mid drift weight will take time but hoping the jowls will return to some semblance of normalcy. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Fat face will go back to normal idc - can’t say when though. So should midriff- but that might take a bit of work!

When I cut carbs drastically the first place the fat went was around my mid-riff - just started to fade away unnoticed until I tried a pair of trousers on I had as spares for the daughter's wedding and they wouldn't stay up! Then the face changed shape. I'm still overweight, but have a shape and a face ...

Yep...mines as round as the moooooon! Nearly a year now! Weight gain of half a stone, but think that’s due to the extra baking...easy to bland it on the steroids, though! Low carb diet looooooming!

My face went very puffed up, I was only just over 8 stone at the time so I looked a bit Lolly pop shaped, I hated it so much, I wore a scarf constantly whatever the weather to try to hide it a bit as my neck and chin seemed to become one also. But thankfully now I'm on the lower doses my face has pretty much gone back to normal, I still have a bit of a double chin but my husband said I've always had that, Charming! 😁

Again another horrible side affect !! i put on over a stone in my first month of taking Pred , round my waist and dont let my gone on about my face. But a hamster springs to mind !!! im now on a much lower dose and there is a difference in my face, when i can look at it !! as for my waist. Work in progress !! Dont give up we will all get fab shaped faces one day ! xx

My puffy face has gone down a bit since I have been on 5mg. I have noticed a distinct lack of wrinkles though, seems that the puffiness has smoothed them out. I had really greasy skin which frequently broke out and I suffered from acne rosacea prior to Pred. Now my skin is smooth and unblemished and no longer greasy. I am hoping that it will stay that way even when/if I manage to get off Pred :)

If you look on my Posts you’ll see me One Year apart, minus 2Stone in weight & on the same dose of Pred 12.5mg....

I’ll try & attach a link....

Even though I had lost weight by reducing the sugars and carbs my face looked like an apple. It came back to normal when reducing Pred around 7 mg.

I understand your sentiments completely. The weight gain is not ideal, but thankyou so much for really making me laugh with your "stuffing nuts for winter" comment. It was just perfect and it's so good to laugh at the moment. Hilight of my day and 'Darcy2000 making me laugh out loud', will be one of my three things I'm grateful for today. Thankyou.

I have been on 10mg of pred since diagnosis last October, I have tried without success to taper down a couple of times. For the first couple of months on pred I lost weight, but oh boy have I made up for it since then! I too have the 'stuffing nuts for winter' look, which is even worse when it frequently goes bright red too. I am going to try a low carb diet, and also folic acid for my thinning hair, both on the recommendation of others on this site, so thank you, and may we all return to some kind of normality one day !
