I'm DSNS tapering at 3mg - 2.5mg and have slight pain in right shoulder and hip when I wake up that quickly goes away when I get up and start moving around. I'm wondering if this should change my tapering procedure.

How long has it been going on for? Is there any link to new or unusual (for you) activity?

If it were me I'd stop tapering for a few weeks and see what transpires with the pain. And think about what you might have changed recently - activity, bedding, especially pillows, or activities shortly before it started to register its presence.
How long have you been doing this taper? Sometimes, especially at the low levels, it takes a little longer for the body to accept that it's okay. But if it's been more than a couple of days and seems to be getting worse, then follow PMRpro's advice. In any case you may want to slow down the taper, one way or another. You might even have reached your lowest best dose for now.
