Diabetic and Prenisone
I take my prednisolone at 8 a.m. and find my sugars go up between 12 and 4p.m. I am not in any medication so I try to eat low carb to keep the sugars down
Yes, Pred causes sugar spikes such that normal healthy eating is usually insufficient to control blood sugars. In order to not add to the problem, a super low carbohydrate diet is needed. A number of people have reversed their Pred induced diabetes or with established diabetes kept reasonable HbA1c readings by doing this. Of course this needs to be discussed in the context of your diabetic control with the appropriate practitioner.
I have put my type 2 diabetes into remission by the LCHF diet and exercise
Yes, I have been eliminating everything that has sugar in it and have been counting carbs now for at least 6-8 weeks. I go to therapy because I’m still recovering from a big back surgery a year ago. I also do my treadmill.
Some years ago we had a Type 1 diabetic on another forum whose BS shot up a regular time post dose and meals. He found that exercise shortly after eating was enough to modify the spikes. He did extensive checks, day and night to work it out!
I too did loads of blood tests to discover when my sugars go up and discovered it was between midday and 4 p.m. they used to go into the teens bit now only go up to about 7 or 8 and by 5pm my reading are in the 5s
Thank you maybe I’ll try checking it later after supper!
