Just a heads up. I have had an excruciating pain under my ribs on one side, on my back. After a week GP prescribed Codeine Phosphate A week later I went back and Was sent to the hosp. I have pneumonia and pleurisy exactly where the external pain is. I don’t have a cough but have been having hot flushes and have felt unwell. Having had pneumonia before I would never have expected this. I’m just saying don’t always put new pains down to PMR. If it doesn’t go, get it checked.

Pneumonia and pleurisy. Backpain
Im so sorry that you have this to put up with. I had severe pneumonia in the base of both lungs earlier in the year which went undiagnosed. That and GCA (which also went 6 months undiagnosed) totally floored me. Could have coped with one or the other but both at the same time was not something I ever want again. Just as well you got it checked out, do look after yourself and take care.
Ouch! OH had pleurisy many years ago - I think it lined up next to broken ribs for pain!
Yes, ouch! I had Pleurisy 2 years ago and, like you, thought it was muscular at first until the night it felt like I was being stabbed repeatedly! I would say, PMRpro, that it was much more painful than broken ribs which I have also had! Happily, the anti-biotics soon sorted it out.
Hope you get better soon.
Get well soon!
Sounds awful - thanks for the heads up - get well soon 💐
