Hi all. Once again thank you for all the invaluable advice over the last few months. I have managed my first successful taper - only 1mg but that's more than I have managed since the induced flare up back in February.

What's worked for me is going very low carb. Really really obvious when I eat sugar now with increased pain for a day that rapidly settles. Taking only enteric tablets helped too. I've also started open water swimming. Now we all know that getting cold standing around doesn't help however actively exercising in the cold has worked wonders. Really reduces residual aches and pains. So I'm now 2 weeks into 16mg from 17mg and this was always the point I gave up and went back up to my previous dose.

PMRPRO- You are quite right when you describe the overflowing bucket. These measures above have emptied the bucket enough to allow a taper without any pain.

Perhaps I've gained an element of control back- I can influence this to a degree . Happy days for now..

Thankyou. It's a start and if it means no methotrexate even better!
