Having been on 15mg for the last few weeks I am due to do my first taper tomorrow down to 12.5mg for 4 weeks as long as pains don’t return. 15mg has helped reduce a lot of the pain and meant I have been able tool be more active. However I experience a lot of fatigue the next day or two... do others experience the same or is your fatigue a constant experience with no good days
It is part of most autoimmune illness. I manage it with a proper nap after lunch. Why not try a smaller drop eg 1.5 mgs.? Your start dose is quite modest.
I am probably very fortunate in that I sleep very well most nights and only experience fatigue very occasionally when tapering, overdoing physical activity or if not getting enough sleep. I give myself permission to take naps whenever I need one.
When I am tired it is not like before when I was able to push through it, I can't, and resting is my only option.
If you are too active - you will get payback. The fatigue is part of the autoimmune disorder as the pred doesn't stop it attacking the body - it continues and leaves muscles unable to tolerate acute exercise. That must be managed by pacing - there is no magic pill for that.
Remember just because you are taking steroids, sadly you are not suddenly cured. The PMR is still there and is in control, so you have to give into it. Fatigue is one of PMR’s symptoms.
