Oh what a relief that it worked. I have never done that process in my life and at 82 doubted I could do it. It took me about 30 minutes to work it out.............
Perhaps the people who requested the article could give it a go. If it does not work, then send me a PM and I will deal with it by email. However it won't be with Photos etc.
Did you enjoy the whole Newsletter? Re-reading it brought back many memories of the fund and laughter.
Before you ask there are no photos of me - so do not bother to look.
Yes, I am wondering if I should put links to them all................but we have made progress and some of the info is old. I had to close the website, they were all on there, but websites have to be paid for and although we got it cheap..............
I don't think that matters - a lot of the stuff doesn't date. There must be a way to add a "Be aware things may have progressed" note - not to mention that a LOT of things don't seem to have changed much!!!!
I did, remember the post was called This could be the end of a beautiful friendship I think??
I am so pleased that now I know how to do it..........I have loads of stuff that could be useful......will now have to go through the hard copies I kept.
Cheers and now off to make Joan some food. ππ
You said you 'wanted to study medicine'....I think you did and thanks for sharing your brain cells. I'll bet you all had an incredible time. A sincere thank you!
Thanx for the link. I didn't know about this marvelous newsletter. The article on page 11 about myofascial pain and pyriformis syndromes is very helpful also.
What a newletter!! In that photo of rheumatologists...is that a younger Dr.. John Stone over Professor Dasgupta's left shoulder? He has a blue shirt on. xo
Have not got a clue, the photo was taken at an International Symposium they are all top researchers into PMR & GCA. The only I know is Dazzie. Keep it secret that is my nickname for him. ππ
I'd be curious...when you chat with Dazzie....shhhh! maybe you could ask if he knows him. He is at Mass Eye and Ear where they are sending me...not that I'll see him. He is a pacesetter here.....xo
Take the photo and tell them you have met Dazzie.........(white lie) or just say someone who knows him sent you this photo when you told them you were going to see him. Then maybe you will get to see him. He will not have seen the photo at all.
I only call him when I need something essential, last time was last year.
I'm glad you don't need him~!!! I really enjoyed his Webinar...and he answered one of my questions which explained why GCA awareness in the UK is so far ahead of the US~~~PMRGCAuk has done so much !!! xo
Thank you for the link to that most interesting article. Strangely enough I had a lot of problems with piriformis syndrome before I was diagnosed with pmr and that is mentioned as being quite common. It all makes sense now.π
Congratulations on your excellent talents concerning the IT aspect of your post jinasc. ..I could not have done that.
However the article on diabetes is woefully out of date and much of it is now factually incorrect/fundamentally flawed. Both the American and British Diabetic Associations supported by the pharmaceutical companies, who, let's face it have a vested interested in seeing these myths perpetrated, have been peddling this mumbo jumbo for years. Much of this has been and is being blown out of the water. I don't have time to write out all the whys and wherefores, I'm afraid, but the information has been posted out there on the web for all to see by far better educated and informed persons than me. I'll just start off by saying I am deeply suspicious of anyone who purports to be a diabetic specialist trying to make a case for "carbohydrates" as a food group, being an essential macro nutrient. Actually we need carbohydrate like a hole in the head - as long as we eat leafy green veg, we have all we need. This was known as early as the 1920s but in the mid/late 20thC the food manufacturing industries employed "scientists" to convince governments otherwise and unfortunately for us, they did a very good job. If some of you good people on here are diabetic have a closer look at the posters etc on the walls at the diabetic clinic - do you see that plate? Look at the proportion of carbs/ grains on it. Now look at the small print and you will find that the poster is provided by Allied Foods/Nestle or some such food conglomerate. That poster is no service to the medical profession, it is blantant advertising promoting what the company processes. Sorry to sound bloody, but it makes me very angry that people are being duped like this to the detriment of our health and therefore at great cost to the NHS.
It isn't perfect no - but it doesn't alter the fact that a considerable number of the people in the local area who used this approach did reverse their Type 2 diabetes. The first step is to change your eating patterns and lose weight - and for older and income-limited persons that is not so easy when it requires a major change in diet.
The dietician here probably worked with the dietician in group that devised the Newcastle diet - she would certainly have been aware of the ongoing study even in 2016. The aim was to help the patients lose weight. And for many in the very early stages of Type 2 that is all that is required. And that was the concept behind the presentation. It isn't as fast - but don't knock it when it works.
The photos were not from the Author Karen Craggs, they were photos that I could find that would attract attention the 'plate size'.
Empty plates would not have conveyed the message that plate size matters.
It is known that the eye can override the signal that you are full and if food is still on the plate, you ignore the signal from your eye. My generation who grew up during the war and right up till rationing was ended had been taught to clear your plate at every meal.
I did not have Diabetes and neither did most of the PMR & GCA patients who attended those meetings and read the Newsletter which was on our website. About 85% lost weight - all I did was change my plate size.
I did make clear that the article was written in 2016 and time has moved and so has the Newcastle Diabetes Centre.
"As a specialist on the link between diet and type 2 diabetes, I have spent 30 years researching what happens to the food you eat. It was my work that inspired Dr Michael Mosley to reverse his own diabetes diagnosis, as you will read in The Mail on Sunday today. My book Life Without Diabetes explains the science behind why type 2 diabetes happens and how the 1,2,3 approach can keep it at bay."
