Pred itself can cause blurry vision - but knowing your situation I would be high-tailing it to ER! If US hospitals are anything like UK ones - their ER dept should be segregated for C-19 and other emergencies.
I too had a scare with blurry vision. I couldn’t reach my doctor so I took an extra 20mg of Prednisone. I was on ten at the time. I was away from home and scared to death. Two days later I saw my doctor and he suggested I stay at 30 for two weeks. Was it GCA? I have always wondered. That’s how I got started on Actemra. My vision seems to be a little blurry at the end of every day. Tired eyes? I just don’t know. Saying prayers for you!🙏🙏🙏
I've only just read this, hope everything goes well for you, remember.....👬👨🏻🤝👨🏻👨🏼🤝👨🏻👨🏼🤝👨🏼👩🏿🤝🧑🏿👩🏿🤝🧑🏾👨🏽🤝👨🏼👩🏿🤝🧑🏽👩🏿🤝🧑🏼👨🏽🤝👨🏻👨🏾🤝👨🏼👨🏾🤝👨🏽

The ophthalmologist was great and increased my prednisolone and I have to go for bloodwork. She will get in touch with the rheumy and GP and I see iherr again on Monday.
Thingss are still blurry..fuzzy...she only had me go from six to ten in case it is the prednisolone. She saw no swelling to the optic nersve , I think it was, but my vision was markedly different than my April visit. So we will seek My pressure in the right eye was up;....but you know...I'm at a place where they wonder if it is the prednisolone....but she believes I had a flare.
I can't thank you all enough....again....I don't feel alone. I'll be back later..xoxoox💖We shall see xo
The experts on here can tell you better than I. But just thinking logically, if it's the Pred. making your eyes blurry what is the end result from more Pred.? Is it blindness? I'm pretty sure not. (However, see below.) But blindness is the end result from too little Pred. and GCA affecting your eyes. Therefore, it seems to me that more Pred. is the better short term choice even if you're not sure (assuming that you have no option for a professional opinion), especially since you are working with one good eye. The downside is just too great. I went to a neuro ophthalmologist for eye symptoms (years ago) at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. He is the head of the department. I had thought that he would say definitively that it was or wasn't the GCA. HE DIDN'T KNOW FOR SURE. He raised my Pred. quite a bit for 3 weeks, etc.* If you have a clear blood interruption in the optic nerve for a period of time, then the docs can see the part of the nerve which died from lack of blood. Great. In my non expert opinion it's always don't wait. And don't let COVid-19 keep you from getting important treatment.

*I still see the neruo-Ophthalmologist (and a macula/retina guy and can see a muscle specialist if I call), The neuro guy has scanned my brain, etc., and checks stuff. He does treat me regularly, and I'm very grateful for his tremendous knowledge. CAUTION: Also I'm pretty sure that the Pred. can increase the pressure in your eye. That may be a big factor for you in taking more Pred. (without a doctor's OK) if more Pred. is not the solution.
Terrific insight and knowledge...this forum is the greatest. Interesting...My pressure in my good eye was up yesterday, she was concerned about it...but it was only in the low 20s. When it comes to a toss up between total blindness and the prednisolone side effects....I'll go with the side effects any time. At almost 80 I've got a lot to be thankful for and was 'kicking butt' right up until last August when this hit like a sledgehammer.
BUT>>>>I can handle all of this as long as I can get around my apartment...first floor...
I was unaware of neuro-opthamology....I may check that out. I see a neurologist in Portland, Maine, and may see if there is benefit there for me.
Thanks for all the sharing and the support....
👩🏾🤝👩🏻👩🏾🤝👩🏽👩🏾🤝👩🏾👩🏿🤝👩🏼👩🏿🤝👩🏽👩🏿🤝👩🏽👩🏿🤝👩🏽👩🏿🤝👩🏼👩🏽🤝👩🏽👩🏾🤝👩🏼👩🏾🤝👩🏾👩🏿🤝👩🏻This forum was like finding a goldmine for me that just keeps giving every single day 💖
Spot on! I lost my left eye overnight last August...no pain, just poof. That is why this concerned me so. I want to stay on my own!! xo Got a dull headache, I'm going to take som Tylenol and lay down...
Oh Marilyn! My vision is pretty awful at the moment too and I would be worried as well. I do seem prone to eyestrain and am also a prolific reader, which doesn’t help.I would increase my dose until I could consult with my doctor or possibly go to the emergency room . My instinct would be to take 10 mgs and seek expert help. You need to safeguard your remaining sight even if it is unnecessary steps. Please let us know how you get on!! Will be thinking of you. 💖
I have read everything now and see that you are in good hands thank God. Will be on edge until you are ok. 😘
To my incredible friends across the pond ....still blurry and achy face and head...so took some extra, total today 24mg.....just not myself..xo going to bed...see what tomorrow brings...xo
My heart is grateful to you all.................💖
So happy for good outcome from prompt care. My best. 🤗
I'm tired, who among us isn't?, but I've checked in to the forum and scooped up all the support, thank you💖 so much!!
I'm still a bit concerned and hope the Doc ups the dosage for my peace of mind??? However, at 20 mg plus the Actemra....my head is ok and my face is not hurting...unless I look in the mirror. xo I found my sense of humor.
I talked with my family and I'm going to go to Canada for the month of September and stay with them. Canada will let a parent in with certain guidelines. I sure don't blame them for telling the US to stay home.
That’s good to have the trip to look forward to & don’t forget to book airport assistance as it will be a big help for you.
I hope you get everything sorted over the next couple of days & get settled again.
I’m off for my ‘final’ mammogram ie 5th Post Surgery on Thursday & then that’s me, l’ve crossed the 5year line! I find it odd because the cancer was on the other side & l had a Mastectomy so there is no real check there but it’ll still be a Big Celebration 🎉
