PMR re Diagnosis

After finally getting a telephone appointment with my main GP. He agreed with me that I had a flare up of PMR and I should go back on a trial of Prednisilone at 10mg. . After 2 days I felt a lot better pain wise and mentally . After 1 week now I still get pains in my shoulders and hips early morning 4am. Have tried for 2 nights taking 5mg in the morning and 5 mg at night the result has been that the pains wake me up at 3 am. When I was first diagnosed with PMR 3 years ago I was put on 15mg of Pred, I think I might increase the current dose from 10mg to 11mg and see if the pains decrease and so on until I find the optimum level of pain control. But I an pleased to be making progress.

That seems strange that splitting the dose has made the pain appear sooner ...

As you were reduced quickly last time around (I think according to previous post), it might have been wiser to restart at 15mg again.

I can understand what if GP was concerned about BP readings, but obviously 10mg is not enough. As PMRpro says strange about split dose.

You could try 11mg - it might be enough.
