Unbelievable!

I woke this morning feeling dreadful - aching all over, head buzzing and really fed up. I thought this was just the effect of long lock down until I looked at my pill container and discovered to my horror that, for the first time in 20 years of taking pred, I had forgotten yesterday's dose. Quite unbelievable! I take enteric coated which take a while to kick in so I've taken today's dose - I'm on 12.5 - and am going back to bed until lunch time. Hope this will restore normality. Any advice would be welcome.

Oh dear! We’ve all done it. I think going back to bed is an excellent idea.

Oh Maria we’ve all done it (well most of us) it’s an awful, awful feeling. I remember being in the car with my husband (about 4pm) saying l feel really unwell & kept repeating it until we got home.....

I went to bed then DH brought me a cuppa, moved my Pred Box to put the Tea down & yes l hadn’t taken that days Pred!

If you can have a nap & something to eat, you’ll probably feel better this afternoon.

There’s much debate about taking extra ie the dose you missed or just ride it out, you can always decide later on during the day.

I’ve done it three times but always found out during the day.

I've had my sleep now and feel fragile but much better than this morning. I'm going to be very careful to take the steroids as soon as I've had two mouthfuls of breakfast from now on. I have so many other tablets to take but they must have priority.

Glad you are feeling a bit better, just take it easy & it’s not too late in the day if you think you might benefit from maybe 5mg of the forgotten dose or if you wake up early in the morning take it early it may help you catch up! Hugs 🤗

I think I'll be alright but will take it early tomorrow - or even if I have to get up around 5 - which I usually do, will just take it with a biscuit or something.

I've done it about once a year for the last five years, and, like Mrs Nails, found out the next day. No lasting damage at all.

The last time it happened when I was on about 3 mg and splitting it evenly morning and evening, I didn't notice at all, and this told me I could taper down a half mg, which I managed fine..

I'm sure you will be fine again very soon.

Best wishes

Paddy

Thank you. Feeling better now after sleep and something to eat. But I won't be doing that again - I did feel dreadful.

No I won't - never done it before despite holidays and house moves, etc. Can't think how I forgot it yesterday.

Just one of those things.

Oh dear - if you were here you wouldn't mind the going back to bed ;) We've had 2 inches of rain overnight - bit too loud to sleep well too!

Everyone has done it at some point - and swear never again. Until the next time ...

I made the mistake ONCE and once was enough. I started to get the old familiar PMR aches and couldn't figure out why. Turns out for 3 nights I'd be halving a 1mg tab instead of a 5mg, twice a day. The difference was enough to bring on the aches.

I agree, once is enough. I had forgotten quite how awful it could feel. Makes you remember steroids are our friends - even if they sometimes feel like enemies.

Thanks for remembering. I'm back to normal today but have learnt a lesson I hope I won't forget.

Oh, sorry Maria, you felt so bad. I hope after the weekend you feel much better. I brought a certain 'sleep' pillow and found it too hard and all polyester so that will be going back after a bad couple of nights sleep!
