Blood tests aren’t a full proof way of diagnosing PMR in a significant percentage of patients.

Joint pain? PMR tends not to produce joint pain really.
Up to 1 in 5 have normal blood markers, second episodes of PMR may bear no relationship to first ones. And they also can lag considerably behind symptoms.
