Earache ,again!

Earache again! My GP and I decided I should increase the Prednisolone from 11 to 12 mgms a day because after a couple of days on 11.0 mgms the earache creeps back . So I have to stay on 12.0 for another 2 weeks .

Today the earache is creeping back, also a pain in the throat. Not sure what to do , should I increase it by another 1/2 mgm or 1.0 mgm. ? Or not.

Maybe It’s the hot weather, too much to do or worries about the State of the Nation, Who knows. ,! I’d be very grateful for your ideas please

Looking at previous posts I see you have had this issue on and off for months. I think now is the time for you and your GP to be a bit bolder in your increase, as small increases aren’t working. Ear issue certainly can be GCA related.

Suggest an increase to 20mg for 5-10 days to clear it (hopefully)- then drop back down to 15mg or 12,5mg and make sure okay before continuing taper. Run it past GP!

Thank you, DL it’s so hard to get hold of my GP for a quick chat on the phone but I’ll try. I think the GCA Is still lurking

Does your surgery have a e-consult facility - look at webpage. You email via system and GP replies (not necessarily yours but one in the group).

I also have earache problems and not sure what to do. I am doing well with all other symptoms. Body muscle pain and stiffness all in check. Ear pain for months and a tender to touch line in my scalp for a day or two. It must be GCA lurking as you say. I am waiting for an MRI. On just 6 mg. Pred.
