Reducing dosage knee pain
Hello, could you answer a few questions to make it easier for people to make suggestions?Firstly, did you get your knee replacement done? What kind of pain is it? Have you had it before? When does it occur? What makes it worse or better? Have you tried pain killers that aren’t steroids?
No knee replacement yet but my other knee has flared in the back which I feel thats from a bakers cyst. Pain for both knees increases by the end the day. Tylenol arthritis helps somewhat but don’t want to take a lot of that. Just wondering i am reducing my prednisone dosage by .5mg about every two week’s perhaps that is causing the pain.
Sounds like too much going on to point the finger at PMR with certainty. As the pain is just in the knees and you have known problems it seems less likely I guess. Reducing too fast and withdrawal problems tend to be an overall achey, not where x marks the spot.
Your last post said you were waiting for knee surgery - that’s the first thing I would go for.
To help it, try Flexiseq, it is expensive and not available on NHS.
It is not a drug, it is bio-mechanical and I would not be able to get through the day without using it on my knees (developed by ARC)
Unless you have had your knee op.........
I bought some of the Flexsisec for my knees but wasnt sure how to use it as it said not to rub in and had to wait for it to dry to get dressed ? I have been having knee pain after reducing pred.
Squeeze tube of gel on index finger, that gives you the length you need - smooth round kneecap and in the fold at back of knee. Don't put over kneecap it has nowhere to go.
Wait the ten minutes - just sit still - don't move - it then has time for its teeny tiny microscopic balls to work their way through your skin to the joints. There are pictures on the leaflet.
Some of us, including me, found that the wait of ten minutes before you wash you hands my osteo fingers now work without aches etc. One lady, in the support group, who had not been able to knit for 10 years, knitted a baby shawl for her third grandchild, the first to get a shawl from Grandma.
One woman I know actually lies on her side and spreads it over the hip bone.............yes ARC says for knees, but it does seem to help in other areas.
Think of WD 40 - you spray it on and then wait...............
I have reduced from 40 mg to 6 mg of pred since Oct 18 and from time to time I get knee pain
Yes have noticed pain in both knees after reducing to 7mg.
