Pink spots on my face in the morning

Im currently on 9 mg prednisone. recently had to go up to 12 because of flare and now tapering down again. The past few weeks when I get up in the morning I notice pink spots on my face. They sometimes go away later in the day but the next day I will see others. Is this from prednisone? Anything I should do?

Hi...it's it red spots orca sort of pimply reddish pinkish hue on you cheeks? Youcan get rosy cheeks, which looked like pimples on me. The pred can cause skin thinning and purpura, but if it's going it's sounds like rosy cheeks. Can you photograph the bit and add it to your post? It's helps us to help. Do you know how to do that?

This is much worse than I got it so presume it much higher dose for another auto immune condition.

It looks like pimples. At first there was 2 or 3 now there are several.

I know at 15mg i was pimply and red on my cheeks, my blood sugar was high but I have diabetes. Hopefully someone will help more. The fact they disappear sometimes suggest it could be pred. Purpura I have had don't go until they are ready to go and mine have been almost like tiny blood blisters.

Are they painful or anything?

no, don't feel them , only see them

I would just put them down to pred and ask again if they develop or you get more. 🌻

Pred can lead to a type of acne which I think tends to be small pimples.

It showed up this morning as some small pink pimples with white dot in center . I didn't put on the usual coconut oil that I moisturize with and by late afternoon they have mostly gone away or at least shrunk. I think it was the prednisone but the oil may have made it worse. so now I have very, very, dry face.

Stop using soap on your face - anything that foams will strip the natural oils from your skin and dry it out.

But that is typical of the pred-related acne.

I tried to think what I did different in my diet that may have caused the pink spots. Decided it could have been too much sugar. Baked cookies over the past 2 weeks and couldn't resist. When I cut back on sugar my face cleared up again. Prednisone and sugar didn't go well for me. Ive been cutting back on salt too and drinking more water and I don't have all the swelling I had previously.

Good - pred changes the way your body processes carbs, especially sugar, and you may have high levels of sugar in your blood. That can sometimes lead to steroid-induced diabetes so it really does pay to be careful with added sugar in particular but with all simple carbs and processed foods.

They don't go well together for most people! I am glad you have worked it out.
