Could any one on this forum please inform me if Viagra has any adverse effects on GCA. Any information would be appreciated.

Although you can now buy Viagra OTC you would still need to discuss with a Pharmacist & l think a chat with you Doctor/Consultant maybe beneficial.

Since Scoopitup has already provided the link to the last time this was asked about I won't repeat what I said there.

However, I will add that there are several reports, extending over several years, of viagra/sildenafil being associated with AION, anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy, which is the same type of visual loss experienced in GCA although there are two forms, artertic and non-arteric.

seems to suggest that there is a possibility that use of viagra could be the final straw that leads to loss of vision because of GCA affecting blood flow to the optic nerve.
