Don’t think so necessarily - it’s not discussed on here much, unless either have increased your cholesterol which seems to be a major contender.

See link to nhs site - nhs.uk/conditions/gallstone...

Not directly I don't think but I do know of a few people who have developed kidney stones or gall stones which were probably as a result of taking calcium supplements.

Too true ' Adcal' did it for me.

I only wish they would check all the levels, ie calcium, magnesium, bones et al before giving you the add ons, which are handed out like sweeties,

So what do you take now? I have dropped the Adcal for about a month now and I can see the results on my nails, even though my diet is high in calcium and I'm taking high dose Vit D. Took Adcal last night and lunchtime and niggling pain is back so I know I have to drop it permanently.

Ask the pharmacist if they have other forms of calcium - but dietary calcium is best ...

I have had horrible stomach pain over the last couple of years....I had a camera to check what was happening, the result was "sludge" in my stomach which I put down to ADcal, they said it was the start of gallstones, it was always worse after taking them , even tried soluble, but still same affect. I have to admit I take high dose VitD but no calcium, although have it in my diet......It is tolerable now, so hoping it doesn't develop to stones.

If you are taking Adcal try a few days without to see the result....

My doctor thought it was cholesterol, but my reading isn`t high.....

Hope that helps....

No idea, but curious as I got gallstones after about a year on Pred and had to have my gallbladder removed. I've always blamed it on the rapid weight loss Lighterlife diet I did 5 years before that, as they warned us it was common.
