What is this? Dermographism that turns deep red

What is this? It raises up like Dermatographia but the rash leaves and I’m left with a really red mark? For few days It doesn’t itch or hurt at all and the weals raise up after scratches or pressure... also most noticeable after hot shower.

It is called skin writing in some quarters. Nobody is quite sure what causes it. Penicillin can trigger it or stress, or actually being scratched or rubbed by clothing. It is helpful to keep the skin well moisturised and to avoid scratching. If it becomes really troublesome there are drugs than can be prescribed.

Are you on an oral antihistamine to help reduce these attacks or help treat it when it occurs?

If not it may be a good idea to ask to be referred to a Dermatologist whom is a skin allergy specialist to give you the right medications , creams and advice on how to avoid your triggers .

Did this happen from some sort of particular straps on your clothes or a bag?

Try not to have a shower that is too hot or cold , use clothing with lighter support of smoother , padded straps and seams . Don't wear things like backpacks or clothes that are embellished with things .

It may be a good idea to ask for a full screening for allergy / intolerances so you know which things you should avoid putting on your skin.

Try not to push or scratch the skin with pressure .

It must be very hard for you to cope with on a daily basis .
