Nearly in Club Zero

Well after some time I took what could be my penultimate dose of pred last night.

I got to this point with the help of this site, I got the courage to tell the doctor how I was going to deal with my tapers. I'm glad he was receptive and allowed me to manage my own reductions.

And of course, thanks to this site and all the help I've received particularly the tapers I got from here.

So If I can do it, others can as well.

That’s so good to hear! How long have you been on pred? Hope you’ve got some bubbly on ice to celebrate?!

I think I've been on pred for over 2.5 years. Things got a lot easier once I got here.

Fingers crossed it sticks!!

Well and truly crossed. I hope it does stick. I have been busy, fitted an alarm system over the weekend, so that added some new stuff for me. More stuff seems to be returning to a more normal level.

I was very nervous about trying to reduce from 1mg, but it all seems to be going well.

Get out the champagne! I might celebrate for you as well, even though I am nowhere near my penultimate dose, but it is a good excuse!

So thrilled to hear of your news and successful taper to 0. I’ve appreciated all of your communications and personal sharing along the way.

Even though you may be on your way free of pred, do keep us updated with your future progress.

All the best,

L

Just because I could be in club zero I won't be leaving this or any other place.

I am feeling good and I can do more of the simple things. I know is sounds simple, but I've struggled putting jumpers on, now I can again :)

Time is a good thing, that and listening to your body. I also had doctors that allowed me to do my own thing.

Well done. Welcome to the club, Julian. I had my last (for GCA) on June 2018.

Great to hear. I have ever crossed for you.

Congrats on reaching zero. Did you use only pred during those 2.5 years or any other meds to assist with the tapering?

JulianJ profile image
JulianJ in reply toNolsie

Only pred plus stuff for calcium.

The tapers from here helped a lot as well.

Well done you! You give us all hope but I fear I’m sometime away from club zero. Good luck!

I'm still amazed at how fast it seem to come around, one day I was taking 5mg and then in what seemed like no time I'm here with my last 1mg to be taken tomorrow.

I do now that I could be back on at any time, but I'm so looking forward to some time without taking pred.
