I thought I'd post this link - it is actually just up the road from me, in Italy and a sort of mindboggling sport that most of us can't even think about, especially because of PMR. It just so happens I could get on the train up the valley and then get on a bus to get close to that rockface!

But I wanted to link it to Skinnyjohnny's proposed feat

healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

Having recovered from PMR he is off to Nepal next week to climb Annapurna IV. HE won't be taking the bus!!!!

He is looking for sponsorship for PMRGCAuk, the charity that makes this forum available for all of us. Very little comes for nothing - if he can do this, surely we can put our hands in our pockets?

Thanks Poopadoop for providing that link!

Absolutely , just the amount of Hope and inspiration his story gives is worth a few quid!

Without the help of the Charity those Mountains he and we are facing would be too hard to climb!

Hugs to all and don't forget your woollies , Bee xx

Watching that video left my stomach in a knot!

I agree that if we can sponsor Skinnyjohnny and help the charity to achieve its 10th Anniversary target to raise £50,000 that would be amazing!

Fancy having that 'up the road', PMRpro - the best I can do are the Cow & Calf rocks on Ilkley Moor!

You can see them from the train - they are amazing.

Totally agree!

He’s past half way to his target, so that’s good - but come on people - it only takes a few minutes to donate - and you can do it from the security of your own home!

Just donated and he's hit his £500 target! Surely, he'll more than double that?

One would hope so!

Hope so - he was on £350 a day or so ago!

I know you have linked to skinny Johnny's last update....but here's the donation/sponsor details for those who just read this link.

Re video, my tummy turns when I watch such things. It is amazing how they do it. It made me laugh though....no ropes but a helmet....and before someone says it's for the rocks from above....I do know but was funny for me. The Dawn Wall on Netflix will also stretch your mind!

Me too , my vertigo acts up just looking at it.

Have you ever watched the film and documentary of , " Man on Wire" , great look into the minds if people that do these amazing things.

But I can get queasy just watching , " World's most Dangerous roads"

in reply to Blearyeyed

Is Man on a wire across twin towers? I used to be okay with heights but cant watch a drone image swoop over cliffs. Imagine watching something being effected!

Exactly!

Worst Xmas gift my OH ever bought me was a DVD of the film " Gravity" !!

I opened it with an amazed stare , the Girls saw what it was and cracked up laughing , I said , " Seriously , do you know me !??" , he was oblivious.

Everybody had seen even the TV trailer had made my head spin😂😂😂😂😨

I thought i was a bit of a dare devil before pmr set in but there is no way i would be doing that climb without ropes.

Done it. Full of admiration. Hardly a hill to be seen in Norfolk.

9494 registered members and less than 3p each.

Take away a taxpayer member who donated £50 and !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and not shown on the link.

Please check the math 🤔

The charity is still being run by Volunteers and two or three part time people, who work hard. We really need to help them.

BTW it is showing £583 with Gift Aid, so do not forget it you are a taxpayer the govt puts in 25p for every £1 that that taxpayer donates.

Probably fairer to say IRO 2000 active members - the figure is for all who ever signed up since the forum began! Nevertheless - it's been a bit slow to say the least!

It has gone up in the past few days which is great. It would be fantastic if the target(pre gift aid) could be could be achieved as Sjohnny starts the adventure. I for one am inspired by his challenge. From a wheelchair to climbing mountains. Brilliant.

and with much ear bashing from moi along the path to remission.

To other people who have these auto-immune illnesses I do not want you to despair and wonder why they cannot do the same.

SJ was a young fit fire officer in one of the top jobs. The fire service were brilliant as they have centres for employees who had suffered injuries etc they were brilliant. Bit like the Civil Service who have organisations that the staff can join and then if something happens, you are on the way to rehab.

So many of us are older when we encounter these illnesses. Every one of us a different in every way, so the path we walk is ours alone, with all the help we can get from others and the medicines which luckily are common to all, we just can and do re-act differently.

SJ wants to give something back to PMR & GCA.

SJ won't tell you this, so I am.

Fire and Ice Expeditions

Were formed in April 2004 and over the last 10 years have raised over £100,000 for local North East charities; we regular donate to Treetops Children’s Unit, Sunningdale School, Fire Fighters Charity, Calvert Trust, and the British Lung Foundation. Please remember that the Fire and Ice team self-fund all their expeditions which ensures that every last penny raised goes to charity.for British Lung Foundation, Treetops,

There are quite a few things to read up and pictures to see - just put Fire and Ice Expeditions in your search engine and then choose.

This is a starter for tem.

Finally, every penny they spend comes out of their own pockets so that every penny donated goes to the designated charity.

Now he will probably come and hit me over the head, except he is too busy just now, getting the final bits and pieces in place and luckily he will have forgotten by the time he gets back.

No I am not a relative..................just the person who ear bashed him. 😉
