Tell us more about how you have reduced and where you flared and after how long. If you are flaring at 10mg repeatedly that is because your body is telling you have got to where you need to be - FOR NOW. The repeated flares are setting you back - if you stop forcing the reductions, it will make it much easier.
I tried mtx and it was awful, I lasted a month! Others have done better with it, But we do need to know a bit more before we can advise.
Hi, PMRpro is right, you need to fill in the blanks. Do you have PMR, GCA or both? When were you diagnosed? How many mg of prednisone did you start on? What kind of taper plan did the doc put you on? That sort of thing. Lots of people on this forum willing to help you through.
Best to you, fm
I've been stuck on 10 / 11 for over a year and I've recently "given in" and taken methotroxate this last 2 months. 7.5 mgs, so a low dose, but touch wood no adverse effects yet!
I'm now reducing on a "dead slow" basis and i seems to be working better.
Of course, as PMRpro says, it could be my body is now ready to accept a lower dose of pred!
