I’ve had a very sore neck for over a month now and have wondered if PMR is involved.

It could be myofascial pain syndrome causing shoulder and neck muscles to be tight and painful. That is more common alongside PMR - in PMR the inflammatory substances are system, in MPS they are located in trigger points which can be felt as knots in the muscle group. So not directly PMR - but a similar cause.

My neck has been sore since the beginning of my diagnosis in November 2018

My neck was also very sore pre diagnosis, so much so that I had issues backing the car. I had assumed it was PMR related as it got better with the pred

I have neck problems recently but they come and go, worse early mornings in bed

Same with me. Sometimes I take paracetamol and it sorts it. So I hope it’s not PMR. Trouble is that’s how it all started for me. Stiff neck and shoulder. 😬😬

I have identical diagnosis time frame with corresponding tight neck muscles. The pain from tight muscles.ligaments gets worse when I "overdue it". Currently on 7mg of pred. Rhumy suggested physical therapy which I have been undergoing for about 3 weeks and have observed some benefit

That’s good to know. I hope it helps you. See the Rheumatologist this week, and hope to get some relief.

I had a sore neck when first diagnosed with PMR. It was so bad I could barely turn my head enough to drive. Pred sorted it out.

The neck pain returned as I was tapering down and my rheumatologist sent me to physical therapy which was able to sort it out after a couple months.

Possibly myofascial pain syndrome which is common alongside PMR. It often improves at higher dose pred but returns as you reduce the dose. And targetted manual therapies are a good way to deal with it when it isn't too bad.
