Hi
How long has the nausea following Meds been going on? As it may be worth mentioning it to your Doctor. Do you take anything else with your Pred, such as a Stomach Protector?
MrsN
Hi,no don't take any protection. Take predisilone at night so I feel better in the morning. Nausea comes on in the morning
How long has it been going on? Do you take the paracetamol before/during/after food?
Take paracetamol just after eating, mainly due to a slipped disk also suffer with hives so tried anti malaria tablets once a week which seemed to work but yesterday took them and suffered with throbbing headache and nausea for 24hours only just started to feel better now.
Anti Malarial Tablets are fraught with side effects, what made you consider taking them? If you have hives/allergic response then you should take an Anti Histamine.
I think you should see your GP but don't take any more Anti Malarial Tablets unless recommended by your GP & then only if you're going into the Tropics or anywhere affected by Malaria
Kind Regards
MrsN
Thanks.
What sort of antimalarial tablets?
Mrs N is right , antihistamines like Piriton as a first line for hives , and a topical hydrocortisone cream or other hives specific lotion.
If this continues then a trip to the GP to get a more specific antihistamine medication.
Antimalarial drugs are occasionally recommended as a precautionary measure for foreign holidays to prevent onset of bacterial or viral infections . They are also well known to be the double edge sword , like Pred , by causing people severe stomach cramps , headaches and nausea even when you are recommended to take them in a precautionary way , lots of people find they must stop them.
You should never take medication , even over the counter medications , for conditions that they are not recommended for , unless you have had previous medical advice to use them in that way , or you can make yourself seriously ill.
This is something you need to be particularly careful about if you are on medications or have specific medical conditions , even with simple things like supplements or OTC painkillers , let alone Antimalarials.
Please take care and get some advice.
Never heard anything about a stomach protector, tell me more. I also take soluble solpadeine every morning for slipped disk pain and half milligram clonazepam for Dystonia in my neck. Falling apart.
Hi Cazdud
A lot of us take PPI’s Proton Pump Inhibitors such as Lansoprezole, though this is now much debated because of side effects, therefore many people are changing over to Ranitadine or Zantac.
PPI’s just cannot just be stopped but you have to wean down on them.
I think you need to see your GP & see what they recommend for you.
Best of Luck

Thanks, trouble is I'm pushed around from doctor to doctor, never seem to get someone who really knows much. Blood tests are normal so they say . I realise by being on here that doesn't mean much also never seen a consultant docs say just cut down the pred as you feel like it.
Not everyone see’s a Consultant, it isn’t always necessary, just for those who run into difficulties or it’s not straightforward, though to be honest l don’t think the disease is straightforward, it has a mind of its own!
Anyone of the Doctors could give you advice on the nausea as it’s not pleasant.
Take Care

Believe me that can be a blessing being left in control of pred tapering BUT not if you feel unsupported with all those problems. Have you been referred to the pain clinic? I think that's the best strategy to get some help. And ALWAYS speak to the pharmacist about meds. They are a useful resource and know more about drugs and drugs interactions.
Always good to be on the Pharmacists Radar!......
Yes had a course with the pain clinic very good they listen to you. I was in a group of nine , me being the only male.....so it did have it's benefits.
I was in the pre group days so had physio, psychologists and anaesthesiologist. I did have useful group sessions via benefits agency run by NHS.
