This link may be useful to any of us who have already rejected statins, or anyone considering taking them. It seems all the evidence in their favour as a prevention of strokes and heart disease is pretty questionable at best.

Suzy,

Thank you for posting that his article, which made for absolutely fascinating reading.

My GP twice tried to persuade me to take statins, and I just refused. Even ten years ago, they talked about the side effects as descibed here, and they talked then of advising statins users not to eat grapefruit.

Bring on a Parliamentary Enquiry - it would make a welcome change from

Brexit!!!

I have read this information now in many different places. I won’t take them.

It seems there is a new pill coming out which means we can chuck statins. It acts in four ways apparently. There was a bit in the BMJ this week about it mentioning gastro problem side effects, nothing changes.

It seems that very few new drugs are being produced nowadays, the heyday of the last century are over! I wonder if they have changed the replacement for statins drug so they can have a patent on it.

It isn't a replacement though - one of the drugs is a statin ...

Yes but they can say some change has been done so they can create a new patent. It is a game of mirrors.

Suzy1959 Excellent article thank you. I have always been v sceptical about statins. I don’t have a medical background but did study biochemistry at Uni. I know how important and widely used cholesterol is in the human body. There is no causative relationship between heart failure and cholesterol and the correlative relationship is very open to interpretation.
