HRT and BREAST CANCER new research

New research regarding HRT and Breast Cancer is highlighting a strong relationship - info every woman should be aware of (and share with younger women) so I am taking the opportunity to post this here although obviously not directly related to PMR/GCA :

theguardian.com/science/201...?

It is anecdotal of course but in the 1990s I worked in an information and social research role for a women's health org in OZ. It disturbed me at the time that the female GPs seemed comfortable to prescribe HRT to many women experiencing 'problems' with menopause. I wont debate here the contentious idea that menopause should ever have been regarded as similar to a 'disease' with 'symptoms' and even strangely 'side effects' - but it is significant that a disproportionate number of the staff in this org actually developed breast cancer themselves ... and I wondered even THEN about the possible interrelationship ....

Best wishes to everyone

I read this yesterday, l was on HRT & discovered a breast lump which proved to be Cancer but when the biopsy came back it was Triple Negative BC so it had not been caused by the HRT ~ out of all the emotions you feel after a BC Diagnosis this was one of Relief that l had not in effect been ‘feeding’ the cancer.

TNBC is the most aggressive of all the BC’s with no adjuvant therapy after Chemo & has the highest risk of recurrence 🌸

So my experience does show you can still get BC even if it’s not caused by HRT 🌸
