Since being on 40mg for the last week from previous guideline of 15 then to 20 in the first 12 days with no effect I am feeling so much better. My blood markers have finally come down and I would say 85/90% pain free which I think is fantastic considering how I was before.
My doctor and I have agreed to stay on 40mg for the next 2 weeks and with blood tests/results in all being well to start tapering very very slowly.
I have had some fantastic support from everyone who has contacted me on PMRGAC and in particular Blearyeyed.
I loved reading Dorset Lady's post yesterday regarding ESR levels and the connection with emotional stress that has really stuck with me - so thank you for that too.
Also what is equally important is my ability to not overdue things and to turn the levels down to what is manageable for me. I also am aware of big events which may trigger stress and not to taper anywhere around holidays/weddings only when things are calm.
I feel in control today however it may not always be like this but having all this information and support I know I am heading in the right direction.
So everyone have a lovely Thursday - one day at a time eh!

That’s great Progress Freddie & the understanding to rest rather than go all out because you’re feeling better. It is simply a dampening down of your symptoms but the PMR is still lurking underneath.
Have a Lovely Thursday yourself!
Kind Regards
MrsN
Really good news that you have such great relief. Hopefully a 40mg dose will clear the existing inflammation quickly now. Have a great day too.🌻
So pleased for you Fredddie! Please keep us posted as to how you get on.
Hold on to these feelings as you proceed forward. It makes sense that with the elimination of pain, comes relief and a feeling of it being “manageable”. Of course the PMR/GCA is still in control, but sounds like you are managing the symptoms.
So glad you have medical support that recognizes that slow is best.
This forum was especially helpful for me in the early months, and the support continues as I progress through my PMR journey.
Keep up the positive attitude....it helps combat the stress which is so detrimental to those of us with these conditions.
Thank you for reply. I will hold on tight. I know it’s the beginning of a very long journey one with ups and downs but I’m ready for the challenge thanks to everyone on PMRGCA.🤪.
