Since starting to take Prednisolone in early 2012 on a dose of 15mg, I am now at a dose of 1mg and desperately hopeful that I will be able to stop taking it altogether very soon. I am hoping that once off the Prednisolone, I will stRt to lose some of the steroid fat that I have accumulated. Has anyone any evidence of this happening or am I being too optimistic?

Reducing dosage
I am happy for you that you have reached 1 mg after 7years. Are you following a low carb eating program, it has helped reduce my pred fat. Mine starting going below 10mg and I have lost over 2st while on 10mg down. I am at 6mg now (just starting year4) . I am sure if you decreased carbs it would help. You could do a quick search for low carb and see advice if you haven't already. 🌻
Dear twin bulls, you have done great! I am sure you will go 0.5 combined with 1.00 on another day, you will have worked that one out. Well, loosing our extra fat....it does not just come off because we take less prednisone, we also need to.. sell.. eat less and exercise more..but maybe you already knew that as well....!! So try to go for more walks or whatever you like to do, because you probably can do that. Is, and be horribly good about all the mummies around...I am just doing that now getting to 0.5 eat less, try to, and exercise more, easy Peasy in theory...you will be soo proud of yourself!!😉😊👍Alida.
Some lose weight at various doses, others lose nothing until the pred is stopped and then it just melts away and yet others have to work at it even after stopping pred.
It is perfectly possible for most people to avoid gaining weight and even to lose weight while still on pred. I lost 35lbs while at between 10 and 15mg and recently have maintained my weight while on 15mg again. Various diet approaches have helped but by far the most effective seems to be low carb - and that also helps prevent steroid-induced diabetes or reverse it if it has developed. And it is possible to lose weight without having to exercise a lot - I was on crutches for the first 6 months of my weight loss!
