When I reduced I went from 1mg to 0.5mg and then to zero. Served me okay. No point in rushing down the final stretch.

Hi piping 🌷

That’s fantastic news, as Dorset Lady says, no point rushing it now, 0.5mg is the way to go!......

Let us know how it goes.

Kind Regards

I am still on 9.5mg so no where near you but as you have done so well it would be a shame to mess it up now. Good luck.YBB

I agree. I am at 3mg now and when I get to your position, I will still reduce to half. Maybe also quarters.

Excited for you! x

Hello. I’m on 1.5 and also feeling fine but have difficulty halving the tabs. However I think going down by .5 has really helped on the lower dose. Beginning to get excited as so close... Good luck!

Don't rush - there have been people who were fine at 1mg, even 1mg on alternate days or 0.5mg every day, but within a few months of stopping altogether had a relapse. The disease activity may be very low, but wothout a tiny bit of control it can build up to a level that is enough to cause symptoms. 1mg is such a low dose it is causing no problem but it can be enough to keep the PMR at bay.

I spent 12 months trying unsuccessfully to get below 1 mg. The following 5 I reduced very slowly by taking a tiny slither off with a sharp knife rather than 0.5 reduction. Finally after 5 years, have not needed prednisolene for the past 15 months. My GP did tell me some people never get below 1mg. It seemed surprising to me that such a low dose could have any effect . Good to know that it does and most unlikely to create any problems.

Best wishes

I have been in remission for a year and a half, and when I got to a very low dose, I had to use .25 to finish.
