Hi everyone

Just spoken to doc. Managed to get to 9mg for the last month and she’s happy for me to drop by 1mg a month until I get to 6mg and then stay on that for three months. I mentioned dropping my 0.5mg to begin with and she’s agreed. If I have any problems she just said phone her. I’m also having a dexa scan. I will taper slowly following all the sound advice on this forum and hope I don’t have too many set backs. Thanks for listening

Why does she want you to stay at 6 mg for 3 months? I have been having problems going from 6 mg to 5 1/2.It sounds like that may help

me, maybe my adrenals are not kicking in.

One top PMR rheumy likes to keep his patients at 5mg for up to 9 months before continuing the reduction - lets the body catch up and seems to make the rest of the reduction simpler.

I’m thinking that’s where I’m at...anything less than 5 and I feel pretty crappy...not really painful so much as fatigue and brain fog...5’s ok with me..pretty low after starting at 20mg two years ago...

I'd say that is a good place to have got to in 2 years - the median to 5mg from about 15mg is 18 months. If I ever get to 5mg again, I'm staying there!!!!

Didn’t ask her why. Maybe the adrenal problem is the reason. She said anything below 8mg minimises side effects but to taper slowly

I’m now at 5.5 mg, and my wonderful rheumatologist advised me to stay at 5 mg (when i get there) for two months or so.

she generally advises the same thing (two months staying put) at 10.0, 7.5, 5.0, and 2.5.
