Oh, what's with this?

This dam*ed twitch under my eye? It started Friday afternoon and has come and gone intermittently over the weekend. It's dam*ed annoying.

Nothing new in pred dose. Nothing new in other meds/supplements. Nothing new in symptoms. Nothing new in diet (gave up coffee back at 20mg because of the acid reflux so it's not caffeine).

Any suggestions on making it stop??

My eye doctor says it is stress related. Personally I feel like it is when my eye is overly tired. I am having it a lot as I am trying to adjust to monovision from a detached retina and macula unsuccessfully operated on in November.

Sorry you're having your trials.

I'm not having any physical issues with my eyes. Seeing just fine. No pain, no itch, no watering. Nothing. Just the dam*ed twitch.

Stress is actually at rather low levels.

Maybe that's it. Not enough stress!

I've had similar twitches just under my eye in the past - lasted a while and then disappeared as fast as they'd come! I agree - SO annoying!

I assume you've googled ...

Yeah, but nothing is wrong.

Just the dam*ed twitch!

No - but there are suggestions for relieving it in some...

Yeah, it works for a while and then it's back.

Maddening.

I guess I'm maddening you folks, too.

Thanks for caring anyway.

Fatigue and stress. Had one for about 10days after Xmas. Drove me nuts then just went one day. 👀👁️

My twitch is definitely stress and fatigue related. I have had it on and off since I was20!

If my Vit B levels are low it seems to be worse as well. Try taking a Vit B complex as it might help. (Your urine will be an alarming fluorescent lime colour because of the riboflavin ...B2 or 3 can’t remember which!)

This has been discussed before, so it may be worth doing a ‘twitch’ search.

It does drive me mad, and my friends say it is not as obvious to others as I think it is.

I guess a little B can't hurt. I'll try it. Thanks.

My left eye has been twitching for weeks. The other one started niggling too today. Very annoying to say the least!

Now that you mention yours , I just noticed mine is gone . Just went on it’s own. Like you, nothing changed.

Well, folks, I seem to have my answer.

A helicopter crash landed on the roof of a building in New York City today, right above the offices of several of my clients.

Stress level zoomed up, eye stopped twitching!

Told you my stress level was too low...

It was kind of like your eye had the hiccups!

How shocking! I hope nobody got hurt.

Sadly, the pilot spent the last moments of their life saving hundreds, if not thousands of New Yorkers by landing on that roof.

Of such deeds are legends made.

It must have been utterly chilling for New Yorkers! Bless the pilot!

Rest! Maybe allergies. I had that over the weekend. Then I realized that the whole left side of my head was stuffed. Sudafed, 30mg, and guaifenesin helped. Just went to the osteopath. She fixed it all.

Seems increased stress cured it for me. See above.

I was cursing you today....had about two hours of twitching left eye...auto suggestion!

I have a very annoying tic along the left eyelid Dr tested my Magnesium and B levels which were both normal. I wonder if it is related to long term use of prednisolone.

Blood levels of magnesium in particular don't mean that much - the muscles give up magnesium to keep blood levels stable so they can be depleted.

A laxative effect is one of the results of taking magnesium salts and I find that when I take magnesium it sometimes works like that quickly - other times it takes several days. When I've taken it for my atrial fibrillation or for cramps it takes much longer than when I just thought about it "to be sure". So I assume that the unwanted a/f or cramp was because I was low.

I didn’t know about the laxative effect although I can see why I don’t have any problems with constipation these days! I did know about the cramping and I don’t get dreadful cramps in my feet at my Yoga class anymore. I don’t know if there is any proven basis for this but it helps me sleep really well every night.

I think there is something about sleep - calcium is also important there.
