I am glad that I knew of nothing of this controversy when I had mine. I was hardly aware of it during or after. There must be some sort of sensitivity test they can do? I was just worried about claustrophobia.
My experience exactly Jane. Had CT with contrast at hospital Friday, due to angina-ish chestpain that lasted 40 min the previous afternoon. . Emergency- observation heartspesialist at the hospital went for CT after several bloodtests, EKGs, x-ray of lungs. Needless to say I was pretty terrified of heartdisease, so the contrast-fluid was the last of my worries. Like Jane I was more worried about claustrofobia (felt a bit like: "Houston Houston , we've got a situation!", in that spaceship of a shiny new CT thing. Oh, yes, and holding my arms stretced out over my head lying flat out on that slim plastic surfboard - quite a challenge for PMR-shoulders... Anyway, long story short: my heart and coronaryarteries are fine (hooray!!!!!), and I believe the contrastfluid really gave ALL my pmr-inflamed bloodwessels a good rinseout (I had two rounds), and I swear that my sore pmr-muscles are so much better since Friday! Even went below 10 mg Pred this morning. The x-ray guys obviously asked for allergies and medicines, and ( Pred 10 mg is all), and no metal in my body, hostpitalvisits abroad aso. No further discussion (I'm in Norway). I'm just so glad It wasn't my heart, and so glad I live in a country where my siden chestpain was so thoroughly checked. 3-D pictures og the arteries and heart- just too fantastic, I'm so lucky.
I am so glad that your tests were clear no wonder your immune system got a great boost. I hope you go from strength to strength now. I just kept my eyes closed and went into a meditative state. They kept interrupting me to ask if I was ok. I think I appeared disappointingly calm. Norway is so beautiful. I must go back one day.
I'm allergic to contrast dye. The first time I was given it was during the passing of a kidney stone. It was the first time I had a kidney stone. I'd never been given contrast dye before, so of course, we didn't know about the allergy. My face puffed up and I got a rash. I had difficulty breathing followed by severe vomiting. I was being treated in the ER but when all of that happened, they had to admit me. Now I take medicine before hand if being scanned, but I still feel like a puffer fish and cheeks get red like I have a fever. Fortunately, it does help with the vomiting. (I think mine was for a CT scan though.)
It was! I've had to go to the ER twice for kidney stones. The second time I knew what it was and was able to say, just give me drugs for pain. That time a man was in the next ER booth, also there for a kidney stone. I came to the conclusion that day that there is a reason that God selected the female to carry the child. He was having a much worse time than I. Maybe he was having twins.
