Today I made a cake for my first born child who arrived just in time for mother’s day 35 years ago. Such a lovely mother’s day blessing. (My twin boys were born on Labour Day .. go figure.. ). Anyways, my darling daughter is a new mother herself and all she wanted for her birthday was a cake. I found a card... “Let’s celebrate your existence with cake”... how perfect does it get? ... and then I made the cake....
Oh dear! Some tasks just a bit too challenging some days!

Oh... always ever so tiring. But so much joy with the little ones... it’s what keeps me going, Cake was good.. with raspberry gelato. I did some reconstruction that improved it slightly and loaded it with toothpicks. Next time, the bakery!
Can’t say making was totally joyful... it took three trips to store (which fortunately is around the corner)... first for icing sugar... second because I was short on cocoa... 3rd because whip cream had gone off... really bad planning! Just one of those days! But it checked all the other boxes, for sure! I thought it was hilarious, as I have a reputation for artful presentation of food... I suppose it turned out to be a failed Modigliani version of cake. . 😀 (my apologies to Modigliani)
That's so great , looks like your cake had a volcanic eruption in the oven!
Or maybe , it was suffering from its own flare of PMR!!😋😁😂😂
Just like the rest of us though , despite the bumps and wobbles it still looks gorgeous and , like us too , probably stands up to the test with a bit of cream smothered all over, a few adaptions and some TLC.
I bet this was the best cake your daughter felt she had ever tasted despite all of its glorious imperfections .
Why? She knew her Mum had made it for her despite the health woes , and , because as a new Mum she already appreciates the odd moments and homemade treats that she hasn't had to run about frantically making for herself.
I think you should give us all the recipe , we would all want to make a PMR cake creation.
