I know weather affects how we feel. This morning I woke up really decrepit and then we had a thunderstorm. Do I blame how I feel on PMR or OA?

Thunderstorms and pain
I say OA. I always ache in a thunderstorm! tylenol. and a blanket over you while you watch Netflix !
Anything damp-related in weather makes my PMR far worse. And usually 3 days in advance! No OA to blame ...
Well it certainly does for me 😶
The humidity always impacts me. OA fibro and pmr dont like it...winter or summer.
You have lovely typos
I thought i had caught that without anyone seeing it.😂😂😂
Oh I missed it. Could do with a laugh!
Bumidity......not humidity.
I didnt even notice on read through but got the edit in quickly.
Haha! But it could easily have been humility....
Going to adopt it as my shorthand for bloody humidity. 😜
I wish you would leave in your typos , even reading the comments after make me laugh , suffering a bit myself with Storm Hannah .... Oh , the humility!!!! xxx
😂😂😂
Warm damp weather has always affected me.
This is chilly damp. It's actually been a horrible day. I went out for a walk and nearly blew away when crossing one street. In another place I was forcing myself into the wind. It let up, and then suddenly started blowing me along from behind! Day started with thunder and now it seems to be ending the same way. Not exactly gentle April weather.
Same here though the thunder was further south. But definitely NOT April, more like November! And new snow in sight ...
My bro and family on the way to Croatia from Netherlands for camping trip. Stayed in Austria last night. Sent photo last night ...sun kissed river. This morning...snow and fog.
Just going to say - they are showing loads of snow the other side of the mountains. I trust they are caravan campers ...
After tomorrow the Istrian peninsula is improving but hardly roasty-toasty.
No...tents. They go somewhere every year at this time and started with 25degree days and now to snow. 3 kids under 13 who see it as an adventure. Eldest sent a whatsapp message with a screen shot of weather forecast...❄️❄️❄️❄️
I've woken to snow on a tent ... Past that now - camper with central heating only!
I just wrote about spring lethargy - and that we used to go away with the caravan to Lake Garda in mid-March and it was mid-20s and glorious. Austria is always a bit dodgy at this time of year. Where in Croatia are they off to?
I dont know exactly. I am not sure how much longer they have left. Thus may be just over the border. The are walkers rather than sightseers.
Rovinj for 4 days....raining very hard.
Oh dear - sounds as if it will improve just as they leave
They have too many hols anyway 😂😂😂 if tbey get a few walks in itll be fine. Its drying off thats the issue camping.
I know - done that! We once had a night in a hotel in the south of France so we could pack up in the dry as the mistral was forecast. Good move - except the one night cost more than the pitches for the rest of the holiday! So the next year it was back to a VW campervan for a dry option with a tent ...
We were young then. Pre children. And what I remember most was how strangely I loved waking up out of doors. It seemed so natural. I'm sorry we never really did it again. Tried camping once with the kids in a large borrowed tent and it rained horribly, the ground was full of tree roots and no one was having fun so we went home. But my daughter camps now. Although with the burgeoning lyme disease-carrying tick population it's becoming less attractive.
Yes. Campervan please. I lived in an orange VW for 18mths. Some if it in the middle of London.
The funny thing is we camped all the time as kids and my bro was always griping when he got to his eldest sons age. Now of course he forces him to do all the things my dad forced him to do. So far son ok with it but puberty has struck! What goes around....
Love a VW camper!
But we chose a converted white van , we bought second hand from the Kawasaki race team , it is old , a bit rusty and a bit difficult to wake in the morning ( just like me!) .
I love it as it's small enough for my OH to drive about while on holiday but talk enough to stand in and the seating area turns into a nice firm king-size bed , just for me!
The others sleep in the bell tent , as the OH snores like a pack of elephants with flu , and Grandma ( my youngest daughter ! ) used to fart for a full five minutes like a trail motorbike just after dropping off the noise in there could be terrible.
Since PMR it's been a life saver because I can travel long journeys in the back , move about or if I need a rest on a day out or trip I can put the bed out while on the road , cuddle up and go to sleep.
Like Heron , over the years I've oddly felt better camping in a field than I do at home , maybe it's all the fresh air , even when you sleep in what seems like a raincloud in Wales !
The only time we really camped was way back around 1970, crossing from BC to NS, but driving through the US. Yellowstone Park. Crawling out of the pup tent into snow, like crawling into a Christmas card scene, quite lovely. Pup tent sagging under weight. Early May.
We were down on Lake Garda one year for Whitsun, probably the end of May. A couple appeared just on front of us with a tiny tent - having left their home somewhere between here and Innsbruck that morning under 10cm of new snow! Lots of people from Germany would have been camping there that week.
I would say OA, although I don't suffer with the thunderstorms syndrome with my OA or PMR but hubby does and he only has OA - he can tell when a storm is brewing everytime!
This morning, with sun shining, I'm going with OA. Have a headache today, often happens with change of weather (strangely when weather improves) but definitely not as generally achy as yesterday.
All the joint and migraine related illnesses get worse or better from weather.
I have some "epilepsy like" neurology , and had pubescent epilepsy in my teens and that gets worse , with fainting or fits , in a thunderstorm.
The Barometer and Air Pressure and " Severe Humility" 😋😁😂😂 suprisingly are more responsible in storms than the damp if your symptoms don't just involve joints , but headaches and Fatigue.
The Damp causes its own issues by increasing swelling in joints .
Then wet heat , dry heat and cold all cause different varieties of pressure and swelling in the joints for all types of rheumatic illnesses.
But it is Air Pressure more than the damp itself , which is why many can feel better in a cold shower , a hot steamy bath or a steam room but the same weather conditions cause pain instead.
Don't forget the Scientific term for joint pain is Arthralgia , PMR and OA , and things like Fibro or Lupus, even old injuries all have levels of Arthralgia.
My Grandma was our own Barometer when I was young.
She had two types of arthritis from age 9 and could tell you it was going to rain 15 minutes before its arriving , great for timing when to bring the washing in , even if it made her bend like a twig.
Hope the storms pass by soon for us all , no matter where we are , keep a look out for those silver linings and a bit of blue sky! xxx
Yes, it does affect us. Also the animals, which helps take my mind off myself.
I’d definitely blame it on the weather, but that’s a British thing 😀. Whatever makes you feel better. Hope you do soon and bring on the sun 🌞 x
No - very much NOT a specifically British thing! Some German weather forecasts actually have what they call a Bioweather section, saying which illnesses may be likely to be made worse by the weather conditions. Some are obvious like hayfever but it also covers rheumatic disorders and blood pressure problems. There is a realisation amongst medics there that weather does have a noticeable effect on some illnesses.
I’m very much with the evidence 👍🏼. I also think it has huge effect on mental health too. The Brit comment was cos you know how we can’t have a conversation without mentioning the weather 😂
Nor can most Germanics - though they are probably ahead on health comments!!! Often in excruciating detail ...
I sure agree! My left hip hurt sooooo bad yesterday and my wrist. Then came the storm! I always know when it is going to rain. Hurt!
