I had a series of flare-ups on our spring trip and am now back up to my January dose of 10mg, slowly trying to taper to 8mg before my one year anniversary of getting diagnosed with pmr in mid -June …
my friend mentioned acupuncture and my GP said it may help...has anyone had a lessoning of stiffness/pain from pmr by acupuncture?

Hello, why not give it a crack? I always think don’t go for things with the aim that it might be the cure, but that in some way it’ll help you cope along the way. I think these diseases are caused by many factors and one’s approach needs to be made up of a variety of things.
Acupuncture was a total waste of time in my case, but it may work for you.
Different condition i had it for. The first 3 treatments helped reduce the pain. The 4th must have hit the relevant nerve and it made me scream, swear and cry. It was 2 days before back surgery so i may have been oversensitive. Haven't had the guts to try again.
A good float in a warm swimming pool at a spa and a good sports massage is my limit now. It get all the gunk shifting out of my most painful points so i feel a bit emotional for a day two and drink lots of water. Good luck. We all have to try things we feel might help us.
thanks to all who responded...I will try a few times and let you know the results.
This forum has been so helpful to me, a newby with sister (10 yr. verteran on 5mg.) and brother (6 year vet off, now back on 3mg.), yet still so many questions about pmr.
