Adrenals
Morning Coriander000 I woke with the Dracula look shortly after I started my PMR trip. Looks worse than it is but scary the first time, like you I got my eyes checked out. The children thought it looked cool! š
Hi,
It looks worse than it is! Small capillaries in eye sometimes burst when you are on Pred, much like you bruise much more easily.
Should disappear with 2 weeks or so. If it lasts longer than that then seek advice.
Oh yes, lots. As long as thereās no pain, irritation or vision changes itās ok. I found I rubbed my eyes more often on Pred, causing these bleeds. The optician said my tear film had all but dried up and prescribed drops.

I had a really bad one recently which covered virtually all the white. Frightened a few people. It went away again slowly.
Yes, the last one I had was the day before my 75th birthday party.
As you say, not a good look - especially for a party!
I got them twice after starting my prednisone for PMR. None in the last 3 years now.
Thank you so much everyone - it amazes me that my GP didnāt know about this side effect. It would have saved a lot of worrying and a trip to the eye hospital if I had been aware of it. I feel a lot better after reading your posts. Thank you again for responding. Happy Easter š
I think a good pharmacist is more informed that your dr about side effects (or unwanted effect).
