Bit of a bummer!

Hello all,

Diagnosed November 18. On pred 15mg then increased to 20mg by GP because of awful pain in leg. Wonderful Rheumy sussed out within minutes that leg pain was not part of PMR so advised me to gently decrease pred. Now on 8mg and PMR pain largely under control - but leg pain not.

Rheumy arranged an MRI scan and I got the result yesterday. A herniated bulged disc at lumbar 4. Dire warnings to alert the medics if any of a number of things happen, ie numbness, pins and needles incontinence!

Referred to a Spinal Surgeon on the NHS but will probably pay to go privately for the first consultations and may have to spend some of the kids'inheritance if necessary.

A bit of a bummer, but in a strange way a relief.

Was it Peter Sellers who had put on his headstone 'See! I told you I was ill'!

Spike Milligan! I believe it’s written in Gaelic. Good luck, the kids will just have to make do with a slightly smaller yacht...

Congrats on having established what your problem is and I hope you get relief soon, with or without the help of the kids' inheritance.

By the way, I think it was Spike Milligan, but I'm sure it won't have any relevance to you for a long time.

Pleased they looked to see if there was a good identifiable reason for the sciatica.

We literally have had SKI holidays - the flat here is nearly at the bottom of a ski run! Though to be fair, it has gone up in value and would sell so that is protecting their inheritance. The property portfolio in the UK is less reliable except each daughter has a roof over their head and provide us with an income! They have wonderful landlords...

Good for the doc to locate spinal diagnosis. i had stenosis in L4-L5 and surgery eliminated the pain. Now have Sacroiliac joint issue for which I have had injections, which are helping.

Dont worry about the kids inheritance, they will be fine, and certainly have longer time to amass their own fortunes. You need to take care of yourself in these " golden years"...after all...you earned it!

Now go play!😁‼️

Kindly, Jerri
