Methetroxate and mixing a dose.

Hi I'm on 12.5 mg of methetroxate and 20mg of pred'. I'm being weaned of Pred', and it's being replaced with methotrexate, I'm on holiday in Oz for my son's wedding on sat, I'm due my methotrexate on Thurs, it gives me bad tummy for a few days I don't want to spoil my experience at his wedding is it ok to miss this dose, I know we really not Dr, but I'm wondering if anyone has done this and had no adverse effects. 🙂

I’ve had to stop Methotrexate for Surgery, 10 days before & then went back on it the following week, so in effect missed two doses.

I never noticed being off it as l had other things on my mind.

I had to stop taking MXT in August last year & never felt the impact of stopping it for well over a month.

If you read your booklet, it recommends stopping it if you have any kind of infection, then recommencing when you’ve recovered.

You should have been told to miss a dose if you have an infection that requires antibiotics - so it is regarded as OK to miss a dose. It can also be stopped without any form of weaning - so shifting your dose to another day is OK too. I stopped mtx for a trip to S Korea and a scientific meeting last year - I could not have coped with the trip otherwise. I never restarted because I had started to feel so ill with it.

I was assured that I could stop it at any time, when it was being recommended for me. So I would and replace it with a glass of champagne. Have a wonderful day!
