I have split my dose of pred and am wondering what time people take their evening dose? I am presently on 12mg, 9mg am and reducing by 1mg monthly. I do not like the idea of taking it and then going to bed as my Mom passed with esophageal cancer so not a good idea for me. My Reumy does not like me splitting dose but it really helps with morning pain especially in hands. Also, as I reduce would it be wise to do it on morning dose

You can experiment a bit - if pain returns during the day, you would take it about 2 hours before the pain returns, If it doesn't start before you go to bed then maybe taking it with your evening meal would work - and also minimise gastric problems.

I have always taken my whole dose in the morning, with Greek yoghurt, at around 7.30 am. I do notice an achiness in the evening, but mainly this is the most effective way that I have found.

I take mine (GR pills) between 10pm and midnight, washed down with a mug of tea.

I put my alarm for 02:00am. Have prednisone ready on my bedside table with a small yogurt or half a cup of milk..I have to get up anyway for the bathroom, so it works very well.

.I'm on 6:5mg and reduced 0:5mg every month once I arrived to 10mg , after starting at 25mg for pmr ..nearly a year ago.

I haven't had a flare you have described, but if I have a few morning pains , then I take in addition paracetamol ..

I take my first dose at 2am as well with half a banana or yogurt tube, and take my second dose at 2pm. The ratio is 2/3 (6mg) at 2am and 1/3 (3mg) at 2pm.

I take my main dose when I wake up for the loo mostly between 3 - 5 am the second dose which I am tapering, at lunch time. Seems to work ok, muscles still sore and bones achey but ignorable.
