Has anyone experienced pin and needles coming from the back of the neck up to the middle of the head with a sharp pain in the bone at the back of the head? Dr is dissmissing it as arthritis, im not so sure. I would welcome any feedback.

For some weeks now I have had pain in my neck up behind my ears, and pins and needles in my arms and feet all mostly on my right side, my doc found a swelling in my neck on the right side and after a US scan found nodules on my thyroid so said that is the problem, but I am still getting it, and just now a funny feeling across my forehead, so I am trying to get another appointment with her,
This is interesting. I have GCA and PMR and was officially diagnosed by a Rheumy in Jan 2018. Initially I had a stiff neck which wouldn't improve with heat or simple pain killers, and a numb, pins and needles type sensation on the upper quadrant of my face over my right eye and cheek bone. My scalp became tender but not painful (some say they can't brush their hair because the scalp is too sensitive). I had no vision problems and the temporal arteries on my face and scalp were never enlarged. Even after diagnosis I was in denial about the GCA aspect of my symptoms ( I also had typical PMR symptoms in shoulders, thighs, hips etc). I researched my head symptoms and there is a condition called Occipital Neuralgia which can display very similar signs and symptoms. Of course the Pred took away all my aches and niggles, and my ESR and CRP results which were way off the scale to start with quickly fell to "normal" levels.
I cannot give you a answer to your question since the symptoms you've told us about could mimic several conditions, but if you have raised ESR and CRP that would eliminate some (providing of course you are not one of those who don't show changes in theirs!!)
This is why PMR and GCA are so difficult to treat, and sometimes diagnose, so please be mindful that GCA is not to be disregarded too hastily and patients don't always present with typical symptoms.
This is what I think G C A is so hard as there are soi many different symptons The stiff neck is still there even when they upped my steriods to 30 in the hospital after i went in with chest infection also the pins and needles I will have to ask my doctor foir a scan xx
