I think too that although many of us would be described as 'elderly' just by being on this site we are proving that we understand how to use the internet and are probably more aware than most of the dangers involved.
Well, yesterday I received in my spam folder an email starting with the statement that they knew that such and such was one of my passwords (yes, it is, the one I use for unimportant stuff) and they knew that I had been looking a porn and ... it sounded like they were about to launch into blackmail but I read no further.... Well, I do not and never have looked at porn and I promptly blocked the sender, but I'm left with the question - which site did they pick up that password from?
I do get laptop to remember for inconsequential sites, which is nearly everything, actually. Keep meaning to get one of those programs which gives you a new password every time you log onto a site. My laptop is password protected.
Oh dear. I’ve looked at porn. It popped up ( double entendres) when i was looking for support stockings!! I think the word STOCKINGS triggered it. Then I looked at it. I confess. It revolted and intrigued me and I was agog. I thought I was not naive. I now know I AM NAIVE. It was ghastly. Xxxx
I never get that sort of thing. Think my virus protection and adblock program help keep out the nasties. It was a phishing attempt via email and I have no time or patience for that kind of rubbish. But I will change passwords on sites as I use them now.
Considering that you are one of the few men, amongst so many geriatric young females who post here, then I'm sure you may be one of the first to be targeted.
Ah, Bless. Ok, Confession time: my name isn't MB, that handsome mugshot isn't me, it's the bloke at the bus stop (in fact I look more like Charlie Drake), Tedski is a hologram, and everything I've ever shared about my Life here is FAKE NOOZ!!!!!! (But what's new?)
Actually, my bank account was hacked last week. But when the hackers saw the size of my overdraft they put some money IN - and then sent me an apology....
Could not agree more. I've had a number of nuisance phone calls before Christmas inspite of taking the necessary steps to try and stop them. Anyone I don't know I put the phone down immediately.
Received the same email as Heron , cleared any passwords from iPad and changed the one site that used the password . It was a trivial travel site I’ve not looked at for a year or more . Using the note book now for passwords , will have to physically hide that when on holiday . Glad I read about this or I would have been fretting .
I chose a photo that’s underexposed (backlit) and doesn’t look much like how I normally look, but does portray my “essence”. Don’t think a scammer could make much use of it.
