Please forgive the 'levity' of this wee post - but I could not resist and it may make some of you even smile - I am thinking especially of (you) our dear Daisychain who has a clear passion for shoes. I am not really known to be very focused on footwear - I am far too often in the garden with heavens knows WHAT on my feet - but I have worn out various hefty boots in the process as well as lighter sandals and less resilient hoof covers !
But look at these gorgeous shoes - and in my enormous size (10 ish) spotted at a charity or 'op shop' as we call them here in OZ. Yes $25 - but never worn by the look of them and utterly entrancing. Colours hard to catch and really brighter than this pic - but mainly a light turquoise blue/green satiny fabric with the heels printed in pink and red roses. Strangely they have very thick and soft - almost 'durable' looking soles and nice squarish toes which a good if you have wide 'clumpers' like mine and they are extraordinarily comfortable. The main thing is however that they are completely frivolous and let's face it 'FRIVOLITY' can be very helpful sometimes ...
Anyway I am clearly just showing off - and I don't have the right 'outfit' for these but one might imagine something very 'Dangerous Liaisons' - although it WOULD 'help' to look like Michelle Pfeiffer ...

No - only around the house - tripping about in 18th Century fashion - or pretending to as I decide WHAT to wear them with - at this point I think they'd look good with black which is my favourite clothing colour although my partner says I need to break it up with pastels as I am getting too 'old' and look 'funereal' ... !!
Yes I quite like grey - particularly when matched with a pale pink - I even liked this colour combination as a child - perhaps I AM 'regressing' (LOL) !!
They are beyond Fab-U-Lous! Almost too wonderful to wear! ππ€π
I think they are gorgeous Rimmy. What a find! I would definitely be flitting about my orchard in those. More frivolity for all Iβd say! I hope Daisychain sees them, sheβs been looking for some cheer for us all.
I too liked grey as a child - my absolutely failed attempt to make a dress in needlework was grey. I was useless, I just cut the thing out and sewed it up - I was and still am.......5ft 3 and the pattern was for someone at leas 6ins taller. I was swamped........and therefore angry and I cried. Teach said well you'll just have to unpick and do it all again, I'll take it home and do it there said I. As soon as I got home I went to the lady up the road who was a seamstress (lots of them in Leeds which was at the time the centre of ready made clothing!) She re-did the whole thing. Teach was so impressed she put it on display on Open Day........she must have known that I had nothing to do with it's transformation - but hey we were all happy in the end!
And never need to ask forgiveness for levity , these light hearted posts are as vital our recovery as posts about health questions or our physical issues.
I have a dress for them , they have that real Yumi Kawaii fashion look , I wouldn't be surprised if they are Japanese or Chinese from the style and shape of the shoe that is a common shape in Oriental flats.
Cool rockabilly look , you can be Rockabilly Rimmy , and it is so en trend in the ( slightly insultingly named , but it is the fashion industry) " Advanced Fashion" group.
One of those brightly patterned full circle skirts with pretty t-shirt ( with a Peter Pan collar , or a Breton stripe ), blouse or vintage jumper ( turtle neck?) or a patterned or picture full circle 50's dress ( even with a little sparkle) then a cropped cardigan with vintage brooches or little jacket ( even in Tassie suede or leather if you want to get ' street') . Then ankle socks or tights , or both!
Also good with Capri pants or leggings , a t-shirt and a kimono , full length or just a kimono wrap. And a cool bandana twist around your head.
Yes, as you can see , fits my style perfectly , if you look at some images of Helen Mirren and those elegant actress and celeb types they often have the look I am describing , the art is in mixing you mismatch patterns by using comp!ementary colours.
Take a picture when you get all rigged up and let's see how the shoes created your new look, and please , don't do the gardening in them it would be a crime!
DC better watch out we have a new contender in the Queen of Shoes competition. xx
Oh my gosh you are divine. Your fashion sense has me reeling with bliss. Are you au fait with Advanced Style. By Ari Seth Cohen? Pls google. You will see women I aspire to xxxxxxx
You can never know what style I will be in from from one day to the next , from minimalism to rockabilly queen in an instant.
I love to mix and match colour and pattern and my friends have always looked at what I put on a bed in horror , then look equally shocked at how well it works when it's on.
Plus my t-shirt collection is enormous , I still have some in the collection since I was 15
( Of course , things were made to last back in 1860!)
But I have seen your photos so I know you are a little fashionista as well.
Shall we plan a heist for Rimmys shoes when you get out?
I may well be in for a while myself today , got a cancellation for an EEG but I think they might be a bit concerned when they see me.
To be honest it would be a relief to go in if it finally sorted me out.
it made me smile and yes these mature people are inspirational. I love textiles and vintage clothing as you know but sadly my very hands on gardening lifestyle - adopted with a vengeance 4 years ago with our 'regeneration' project means I don't often get around in anything but pretty 'practical gear' most days. My partner and I do dress up when we get the opportunity but this isn't often enough now I'm afraid. But like you I LOVE to see people in great creative clothing !!
Rimmy I am drooling they are so unusual and absolutely ravishingly beautiful. I have never seen any like them and I agree with your Dangerous Liaisons comment. However. Michelle Pfeiffer wrote to me saying she longed to look like YOU so I said β eat your heart out Michelle β.
Those shoes are a work of art I saved the image cos Iβm in love with them Must look up the name Is it CHOCOLACIOS?
You HAD to buy them. I would have and they are not even my size.
Wear them with health and joy my dear friend. Skip along like a spring lamb!!! So happy to see them. Thank you so much xxxxxx
They have the label 'Hot Chocolate' and you will find them online and some on Ebay - there are some really lovely styles and they must be comfy with very thick - some 'double' thick soft soles - I partic like Mary Janes and often admire children's shoes. I just KNEW YOU'D love them Linda !!
Definitely a commission ... maybe a pair of those gorgeous blue and white - wallpaper look DOUBLE THICK wedge sole Mary Janes - IMAGINE the comfort - let alone the 'style' and they are on sale. BTW their sizing is very accurate to my usual size which helps to know !
