Since he started taking Pred OH is not picking up the heat from chilli in curries, con carne etc. Last night I mad chilli c.c. and increased the amounts of dried, fresh and powdered chilli at appropriate stages.
He said it tasted "better"
I had a bit of difficulty getting it all down, plenty of guacamole and sour cream dressing.
Onthe other hand he had wasabi paste instead of mustard with cold ham for lunch today and found that very hot!!
No other taste sensation seems to have been affected - one would have thought that wasabi would be the same as chilli re heat sensation.

Pred hasn't had this particular effect on me, but it's certainly changed my taste buds in some ways. For example I used to love smoked salmon, but now I can't bear the taste, likewise taleggio cheese. I think it's also affected my sense of smell. I used to love the old Guerlain perfume Jicky, but now I find the scent of it very unpleasant.
That provoked a little consult with google, and apparently wasabi works more like hot mustard than chili in that it irritates nasal passages rather than affecting the tongue. Who knew?!
