Spronkers Bonkers Blearyeyed

Could I use this enormously large sprout then when I introduce your game to my deranged unfunctional family.

Takes your mind off being less able for a while?

Or is it a cabbage?

I'd have thought that was likely to be a bit trying for PMR-ed muscles...

Just added in the more user friendly game of Sparbles on the Spronkers post to save the aching joints , and coming up with suggestions with a new game Murder by Sprout which I will add in the replies for all the deranged like me over Xmas .

Plus , the cause for my Brussel Sprouts Cognitive and Game based Therapy has been revealed . Love Bleary-eyed xx

Waiting in rabid anticipation. I must stop the excitement running down me legs.

I reckon there could be a place on the Apprentice for this innovative party piece.

Now you mention it I haven’t thought this through have I?

I am doing mine with hazelnuts. Everybody’s family is deranged and unfunctional, we are the normal ones. X

Well said 🤪👀🥺

Blearyeyed profile image
Blearyeyed in reply to SheffieldJane

Hazelnuts have been tested but unless you are playing with the strength of Geoff Capes or have a few days to spare they are impossible to break.

Definitely not a PMR friendly piece of game equipment !! xx

We have a stalk of purple sprouts - small and very firm, I'm sure they'd be ideal for Spronkers.

(stalk of sprouts is great as there's just the two of us - break of the first serving, trimend of stalk and stand in jar of water in cool place)

No broccoli or other brassicas , the umpire and originator of the Wondorous Game say a giggling No!!

That way madness lies , and coming from me that's saying something! xx Bleary-eyed

Are you sure I thought Madness was a Band who did “Our House” but then again quite fitting.

I have just seen this and can't believe it.

Overjoyed Spronkers is going viral on the PMR/GCA forum

( Anyone wishing to know the rules of the game the original post

Festive Fun. The Wondorous Game of Spronkers! Or why PMR/ GCA may mean this year I am not Queen of the Sprouts

will explain all to those confused by this post)

As much as I would like to say yes, PMR sufferers would probably find playing with cabbages an even greater hinderance with our shoulders!

I have included one of our other PMR/ GCA user friendly sprout games in the replies on the post called Sparbles , that might go down well with the family too.

And I wish you and all the happily deranged and differently normal families like mine and your out there , a very merry Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year of Spronking!!xx

Hugs Bleary-eyed xxx

I for one can’t wait to get Spronking. Yippee!!!

"Technical Botanical." Same family really! A Cabbage comes from a single Terminal bud.

Sprouts grow from Lateral buds which sprout when the Terminal one isn't allowed!

Sprout tops are lovely though & as rare as hens teeth.

I love em but they don't like me now!!

Yes your are right in horticultural terms but Spronkers , much like the Guinness book of records , has rules in relation to the size of your play equipment , believe me , that's why official Spronker bags of prestrung sprouts became a thing , you would not believe how many people tried to use GM Spronkers or got involved in match tampering in the early days. xx

Estellemac profile image
Estellemac in reply to Blearyeyed

I really can’t abide cheats tampering with my play equipment. I think before any Spronking takes place out side of your differently abled household we need an official condensed rule book. Otherwise it will end up like Aussie Rules football. No one knows what’s going on especially the players.

After 26 years of Spronking I am going to write and create an official game next year!

All because of your growing interest.

Estellemac in reply to Blearyeyed

I know a song about Spronking

There was a loony on our site some sprouts they did grow

They wanted them for Christmas for the family game show

The game involved a bag of sprouts that were threaded on some string

You played it after Dinner when the Party was in full swing

You had to be quite bladdered from festive warm mulled wine

You’d choose your Spronk from a bag that was certified all fine

You could then swing it at your victim to leave them high and dry

If you were not too careful you could take out their eye

That’s all part of the fun said Nana laughing like a drain

But we’re all too merry to care now shut up and play the game.

Ogy Ogy Ogy Spronk Spronk Spronk !!!

Blearyeyed profile image
Blearyeyed in reply to Estellemac

I bow to you , that is the best song , I can't believe what my game of Spronkers has inspired in the people on this site it is amazing!!

I have just sang it to my family , and we are all in pleats.

I will definitely be singing this at the beginning of all future Spronkers matches , and if I can use it when I write the official game as the Anthem , royalties will be on their way. In the form of sprouts😂😂😂

You are priceless , and deserve a position in next year's competition for that alone , or maybe not , depending on your point of view , as you have described the fun so accurately you might want to stay at home!!

Kisses and Sproutness to you and yours . Bleary-eyed xx

Estellemac in reply to Blearyeyed

You cheered me up with a daftness that can only be applied at a special family gathering. I love it. There not enough frivolity when your struggling with PMR/GCA. I am honoured for you to use the song as your anthem. May the Sprouts be hardy, rotund and smashy Ref. Let the Spronking reign over the festive season.

Maybe you should take out a patent on this game. You could become richer than your wildest nightmares!

in reply to Blearyeyed

Dear Bleary. Further to your rule book considerations I would add:-

1/ A defined maximum run up should be stated.

2/ Both feet should be grounded on sprout contact

3/ No jumping from a height.

4/ Only sprout on sprout contact allowed. No eye poking, biting, punching, kicking or spitting.

5/ A sprout below the belt should be an immediate sending out offence.

6/ Chainmail gloves to be banned but mittens permitted.

7/ Yellow & Red card system to be adopted. Bans & fines imposed.

8/ No sledging or physical intimidation.

9/ Etc......

Might be a bit of a spoiler though!!!!!!

Blearyeyed profile image
Blearyeyed in reply to PMRpro

Definitely , no glue!!!!!

I reported an update on my post about the news article from the Hastings International Spronkers Comp. after someone said they had managed to find out what Spronkers was on Google.

There must be six degrees of separation going on somewhere , and as they have only been going for 10 years and most of our Family 20+ years of training we are seriously tempted to go and sweep the board down there on Boxing Day.

Even with the disadvantages of PMR I still think I could have them!

There seems to be alot of cheating going on down there , and as they say , and is proved in our Spronkers competition , cheats never prosper , especially at Christmas.

The original person who suggested it certainly reminds me of the odd old rule bending Uncle or Cousin from days of yore.

Next year , after this Christmas training , I said we should get up a coach trip and take a full PMR / GCA team down there to show them how it's done , even with our wonky limbs and wobbly shoulders!

Enjoy your burger up a mountain and Merry Christmas Brains , love Bleary-eyed xx

Won't be a burger up a mountain - that was for skiing days! Was supposed to be pizza tomorrow but OH has had a rather fraut week last week so may not make it to the pizzeria - even if he were eating anything. Which currently he isn't...

And a merry sproutmas to you too!!! :-)

So sorry , wish him well from me.

Our families definitely seemed to have been blighted by alot of ill health over Xmas , you would have thought we would deserve a year off by now.

Thank you so very much for being such a good friend to us all on this forum.

You didn't get the name BRAINS for nothing , and virtually have a full time job , following all of our posts , and answering our calls for help and advice whenever we call. Most of us would not have survived without your love , care , time and commitment , and you will always have a soft spot in my heart.

Here's to a brighter , healthier New Year , and as always, Take care and Big Gentle Hugs. Bee xx

Thankyou - I added to the joys by managing to cut my index finger quite dramatically on the food processor blade when making brandy butter! Which was fun since I am on anticoagulant therapy. The good news is I finished it eventually and it is in the fridge. The BB that is. At some point I may summon up the courage to attempt mince pies.

But gastronomically this xmas may achieve a veritable nadir.

Oh, sticking plasters are a necessity in every house, I did the same last week (it wan't Brandy Butter though) and the blood just would not stop!

You mean like deep freezing them or painting a large steel ball bearing green!! Ha! ..All is fair in sport & war. He who sprouts loudest wins!

Pepperdoggie do Sprouts not like you as you have abused them in the past or Is it the Botty Coffs they cause or do they not appreciate your sense of humour and horticultural knowledge?

in reply to Estellemac

Yep! Serial sprout abuser me Estelle! And haven't I paid for my folly & served my time!

Mostly in the little room doing sudoku with the window open. Phew! brings me out in cold sweat thinking about it!!
